Im wondering about how high a character can be levelled in the main game, before any of the expansion packs became available. Im playing an Orc warrior and Im at level 31.
What levels have been reached by others.? I still have not completed the main quest or started the Shivering Isles expansion yet.

Once your majors are all at 100 there is no way to level other than going to jail and having your skills decay then leveling them back up.

So your max level is found by how many total points to 100 for each skill divided by 10 to get each level and rounded down.

Woo hoo! I'm level 43 also!

Your maximum level Is determined as follows: Step 1 add all your major skill #s when you STARTED. Step 2 subtract that number from 700. Step 3 take the opposite of that number and divide by 10 to get your maximum level.

Now this isn't applicable if you plan on being jailed a lot because really any number you want is your maximum level if your willing to be a jailbird. I'm a breton mage which all my majors were very high when starting out(I was practically a jorneyman in all 7 majors), which accounts for my low max level of 45, But say you make a breton warrior that number easily could jump to 55-60 max level.

I'm a level 45 battlemage, and i have still 10 point to gain with Blade, 5 with Alteration, 27 with Destruction, and 14 with Mysticism, which means that my character will be maxed out at level 50.

I am also level 43 and I soon won't be able to level up anymore either without being a jailbird. However do like they said and I think you can only stop leveling up once all ur attributes are at max. But I'm not sure and if you can keep leveling up after all your attributes are maxed out then the only real purpose to keep leveling up at that point is to elevate your health. But as that will also elevate enemy health it's almost pointless.

I am at this moment 51 with my nord , If I am not wrong the max level you can reach without going to jail is 52,5 + 3 more levels if you use the Oghma Infinium = 55,5. Aenur ~

A post has been removed for changing the topic subject. The fact that it was also asked in at least one other thread where it kidnapped the topic isn't in its favor, either.

I haven't tried this (yet) but it may be possible to cast damage <skill> onto yourself (so damage, not drain). The damage in skills should be permanent(?) if you don't restore it so they could be gained again by training, therefore allowing you to level more.

As i told, I haven't tried this yet so it's only a theory...

Yes draining your skills works, but after I drained mine they stayed red. So whenever anyone looks at my account they're like, "CHEATER!"
I don't recommend it, unless you know a way to make them not red, like going to a chapel. ( Hey, that's a thought to ponder, assassins.) :D

My highest was a lvl 35 Breton Custom Class Mage. But it gets a bit boring when your char is so good. Besides, I always want to create something 'different' when I start winning against everything/everyone so easily, so I've had loads of characters that I've abandoned anywhere from lvl 1 to lvl 35.
The only major Quest not completed is Shivering Isles, because even my best character was having trouble with the tin men.

I'm at my 73 (thus, a veteran prisoner)
The reason for leveling that high is not to raise your health, but to raise the tension when fighting enemies.
In this level, almost every battle takes a long time to finish, just like in real life.
And the enemies are very strong, balancing their lower skilled AI with the higher skilled (but lower attributes) Human Intelligence.
