I have a question about the ending of Fallout 1. I played this game a lot but never knew what to do at the mutant base and when I finally figured it out it started buging. So I restarted from my saved game and it was after I killed the leader of the mutants. What will happen if you first destroy the base firsr and then the mutant leader ?

Can't remember that I have ever tried to do it in that order, but I can think of two alternatives:

1) The leader is killed when the base is destroyed (I think you mean the Military Base west from Vault 13?).
2) You can't kill the leader, as when the base is destroyed, you can't enter it anymore.

My money is in number one, as it would rather annoying feature if you wouldn't be able to finish the game just because you did something in wrong order...

Destroying the base first prevents the mutant army from overrunning Vault 13. So it takes the time limit off and you can take as long as you want to kill the Master.

Well, that's one way. Or you can go down and talk with him and convince him his plan won't work. (High IN to point out that the mutants are sterile.) He'll suicide. If you can't convince him you'll have to fight him, which isn't that hard if you use the right tactics.

Well, there's been a long time since the last time I played this game, but as I recall, when I finished it for the first time I destroyed the factory first then I killed the Master (and there's no problem on doin' it). Also I wasn't good on talking (At first I didn't realize how important that would in the game) (my speech was lower than 50% =D )

Well, cutting the crap, I remember I used big guns, like Bazooka, Minigun and such, but that really sux against the Master. I mean, Bazooka make a fine damage, but big guns consume too much Action Points, and you'll need them to take cover behind the pillars you have in the Master's room (do they actually exists? I can't remember if making this up or if I'm right..)

anyway, if you take cover behind the pillars, have the power armor, nice weapons bla bla bla the only problem you may face is getting bored shootin' that thing (believe me, he's tough) and the muties that come from the backdoor.

not much of a help eh..? well my advice is, don't fight him, it's wearying.

Another question: Why when you come to Necropolis early in the game the ghouls are alive and when you come later they are all dead?

because apparently undead flesh-eating ghouls still need water to survive and ya didnt fix thier water pump before/after you stole thier water chip :(

Well

The mutant army killed them. The longer you take to destroy the Military Base, the more places the mutant army overruns.
