I get this error message everytime I try to load Icewind Dale:
An assertation failed in ChDimm.cpp at line number 600. Programmer says: Unable to Open BIF:data/GUIfont.bif
The problem is the file is still there but not loading. I had a similar problem sloved by reinstalling and I really don't want to again. It won't let me start the damn game!!

Can anyone please help?!?

:( :(

Have you installed all of the patches?

What install have you got it on? Full/Compact?

Check the Icewind.ini file to see if the directories are correct, they might be pointing at D or the wrong part of C.

There is a 1.44 patch IIRC :)

I'll have a think about it :)

Did you get any errors when installing? It would appear that some of the files have not copied over successfully.

This happened to me, the only way around was reinstalling taking the DMA off the CDRom Drive. :)

Sounds like a corrupt game or bad install...Only option is probably to reinstall, ...and clean those cds!

Unless you want me to try and send you the 227 kb BIF file is says you are missing (or bad), but the problem with doing that, is that if one file is corrupt or missing, no doubt others are...and it is possible that the problem is in the Chitin key (though that doesnt seem to be the problem).

Also disable the DMA as Yshania suggested, if you reinstall.

Thanks at all guys, problem sorted a little while ago. Icewind Dale solved (apart from that damn squirrel!!) and am onto Heart of Winter/Trials of the Luremaster. Thanks for the efforts guys and gals. :) :)
