I just got IWD and HoW, and am creating characters. I will dual my ranger to cleric, but not sure which weapon proficiencies I should give (I never tried this combo in BG2 either). Please help.

Go for mace as this allows you to use maces & morning stars.

You can get a mace +1 at the start and high quality morning stars (for all the undead). later in the game there is a kick @$$ mace ("Selune's Promise") and a brilliant mornig stars (+4 defender and +3 Sanctified [bonus cleric spells]).

But as a dualled character you should quickly spread profs. to flail, warhammer and sling.
