Ahoy,

I just entered the castle where those spectral guards are, but they kick my ass.
Is there any strategy that works for them, or did i just not try hard enough? i have played the game without any really big problems till this points

You're not trying hard enough.

Seriously - they are a tough fight and there's several groups of them.

First, try isolating the groups. You can fight groups of 5/6 at a time (usually in 2 waves of 2-3).

Second, kill them quickly one at a time. I went for haste/strength potions and concentrated my fighers on 1 spectre at a time. Priest cast defensive harmony, mages cast mirror image & stoneskin and act as decoys.

You can't mess around, use those limited charge items.

Thanks, i'll try it again tonight, also, when do they attack? because first they are 'non hostile' but sometimes they just become hostile for no apparent reason, i didnt try to walk up the stairs or something

As guards, they attack when you get too close or when you try to pass the area they're guarding.
