Hi like the title says (read title). I was doing pretty good in the build up and got to neverwinter without too much trouble. Thats when it got hard. I couldn't defeat Leldon's thugs untill I used Quara stoneskin on everyone. But got past that.

Now I am getting CRUNCHED by the enemies in the warehouse. I haven't even gotten up to the boss of the warehouse. I can beat a few thugs and casters but eventually I get overwhelmed.

Neeshka and khelgar charge in chopping. I try to keep the heat off Quara and backstab her attackers. I seem to miss often with my +2 Longsword and Storm Light Hammer: Main hand 10/5 Offhand 9. Khelgar does pretty good. he's wielding bone phoenix. If Quara is not getting attacked I help Neeshka trying to again backstab whoever is attacking her untill no one is.

We all have stoneskin on.

Quara is unleeshing all kinds of spell death. Not sure if its hitting my own party or not. Everything happens so fast. But we DO got 2 with evasion.

to defeat Leldon's thug, you need to has level-9 of you character. if you read careful from diag between Ophala and Neeska, Neeska said this mission is special hard !.( i often get other mission to uplevel my character , then back to take this mission.)

i also died in warehouse when i first time play this game.
you will easy to be killed due to your AC is too lower. and your attack bound is too lower .enhance your character AC, then the thug will hard to hit* you...
if you have a AC up to 25 or higher.
your attack roll or attact bonus also need to increase, attack bonus is base attack bonus+ feat attack bonus+STR . If you have a high AC, but low attack bonus, then you will find that the thug are hard to hit you, and you are hard to hit them too.
everybody attack and nobody down -_-.


if you are a fighter, and if you are in level 8 then you should have twice attack such like 13/8 ,then i think you can eazy defeat them.
if you are a wizard, then you must cast "Ghostly Visage " and "Mirror Image " those two alow you hard to hit ! even you are play CHapter3! before attack, your wizard character can cast sleep,Gust of Wind , or scare , to stop enemy move. then you can kill them slowly..

in your case, you can use Qara to do this.
has a wizard in party will eazy to defeat any enemy.

Maybe get another level to make it easier.

The thugs are rogues and rogue/fighters and are pretty tough at this level. They may be able to retain their dex bonus when you sneak attack, so you won't be able to sneak attack as effectively.

What should work well that you may have not tried is using Mind spells. Rogues and Fighters have low Will saves so these should work well. Then when they are out, you can lay into them with sneaks and spells.

Also, they are making saves on any area effect spells, whereas Khelgar isn't.

Try to take just one room at a time, and not aggro multiple groups.

If you can get a hold of a spell or item to reveal the thugs when they are sneaking, they won't be able to sneak attack you when they spot you.

I've that trouble too. With a good armour, neeshka and qara are still going down on fights. The thugs go for them first. Which is a good thing, since my main character survive longer.

But I think walking slowly through the map helps - taking on 5 thugs at a time. Some of the rooms are close together. The first time I walked past both rooms, I was stormed by 10 thugs (or more). Only survivor in that fight was main character.

I do not think there is anyway you can make that fight easier other than being careful.

Same here. Those thugs' sneak attacks are really nasty. What I did on that stage was use Elanee instead of Neeshka (my main character was a rouge). Get Elanee to wear a breastplate and heavy shield to boost her AC. Elanee has access to some AC boosting spells like barksin and cats grace (for my main character). That should make you harder to hit, plus you could cast mage armor on some of your party to boost your AC even more. The cats grace should also make your attacks hit more if you happen to be "finese-ing".
Use Elanee's call lightning and Quara' fireball or icestorm to easily eliminate a group of thugs.

If you find yourself getting overwhelmed, try this little trick/cheat:

Leave your party near the entrance and have them wait there. The broadcasted "Wait" command should do. Then move, one character you can afford to keep out of the fight, but have reasonable HP, just in case, carefully. Make sure the bait, can run at his/her max speed.

When an enemy spots this character, they will charge, possibly bringing 1-2 others, but generally in a manageable group. Now run this character back to the waiting party. Even without spells, you tend to out number them 2:1 making the fights easy, especially with Neeshka sneak attacking properly.

Leading them far enough away means the battle will not alert nearby enemies to join the fray. Having them all come from a direction you expect also means they cannot sneak attack well enough.

Try not to use Neeshka for this as we would want her steathed and standing slightly away from the main waiting group. The approaching enemies should be led into the fight looking something like this:
Run the Bait past the Main party, ending up putting the waiting party members between the Bait and the enemy. With a few good knockdowns and sneak attacks, there should be little chance for the Bait to get injured much.

Once battle is engaged (at X), Neeshka will come out of steatlh and sneak attack the nearest enemy for a almost one kill per round. She then moves to flank the next one and repeats. If you keep her Stealth skills high, she should have no trouble remaining hidden as the enemies run past her. The AI also tend not to switch target to aim at a hostile when engaged with someone; in this case, the Bait; until that new hostile deals significantly more damage.

Kheldgar's knockdown ability is good in a fight at low levels, so pause the game, micro-manage him a little, and have him knockdown enemies next to him. He doesn't deal damage, but it makes anyone he knocks down get AC penalty making it easier for everyone else to hit.

Never put Qara in front. Have her use the Rod of Frost if you found it, which I do believe you should. It lets her deal some extra damage, that's still useful at this level while keeping her out of harms way.

Seeing as your class, you can modify this a little.
This might put Qara in a more dangerous position, but then you can make use of Mage Armor and Stonekin etc spells as necessary. You can always retreat out of the warehouse to rest and return to complete it in parts.

This would require managing each character in combat, so making liberal use of the pause is needed, while you give orders to the party for max cooperation and use of ability. Pause, spin the camera to get a better overall picture, and adjust the attacks of each party member as needed for the next few rounds. Pause again as necessary, when situation changes to issue new orders. I also tend to play everyone in Puppet Mode, so this might be easier if you find anyone doing something "stupid" and not obeying your direct orders.

Also, when you do fully find yourself swarmed, drop area semi-persistent affect spells like Entangle or Web; preferably Evard's Black Tentacles, and retreat a little. Get one for Qara when you can. It forces anyone within it to make a check or get entangled and it deals damage to boot! Usually, one cast of this spell covering the entire area of approach of your enemies at this level means TPK for everyone who charges your way. At higher levels, follow this up with Fireball and/or Cloudkill etc and anyone that survives should not be able to stand much against any meleers in your group.

Whoa, that is a pretty long strategy. How long did you take to complete the warehouse?

I must admit that even fighters have trouble here. It's too early for the main character to be effective with mobs. It's also too early in the game for anyone to own lots of cash for the really good items. And it's also too early for any mage to have much powerful spells.

So, I guess stealth and trickery must be employed here to overcome a threatening situation this early in the game.

The strategy probably seems long as I was trying to elaborate and explain it in as much detail as I thought necessary so that no confusion would arise from the post.

The concept is basically simple, that it to "divide and conquer". Instead of fighting the thugs where they are and possibly triggering more thugs to join the fray, you retreat and choose your battleground. There, you simply play to your character's strength. As you've noted, spellcasters have limited powerful enough spells to be really effective, although if you have chosen your spells properly, they are actually enough to clear the warehouse.

Since there seem to be trouble enduring fights, and blowing the enemy away within 2 rounds, the 3rd option would be employ tactics and stealth... with which, having Neeshka and the main hero classed the way they are, are most suitable to employ this little trick I use; to strike from the shadows and take your enemies down.

Once you've tried it once or twice, it should be pretty natural, and you'll probably find the post too long-winded.

Uh oh! Newbie ...

My son gave me NWN2 and I dutifully am trying my best. However I missed playing dungeons and dragons ... was too old for that and my kids were too young for me to watch them do it. So spellcasting round by round at the speed this game is moving is difficult. Thanks for the detailed strategy ... I definitely need to 'hit the books' on the backgrounds ....

Nah, its tough for everyone on a real-time basis. Use pause (spacebar); while paused make your targeting selections (combat or spells). That almost gets it back to a turn-based game (which is what D&D is). You can even take control of your various party member's actions/attacks/spellcasting/movement (via the character sheet top right tab turning on "puppet mode").

I've found out that Elanee's buffs help in the thug warehouse. I have her cast barkskin on each and every party member. Also some stoneskins. This works good if you have a tank as a protagonist to go with Neeshka and Khelgar. With the AC jacked up they don't take very much damage. I'm sure there is more strategies, but barkskin made the difference for my melee oriented parties.
