Help killing the Lich

OK, I've read the walkthrough. In Lower Dorn's Deep, Kill the Lich, take the key off his body, then enter into the Hall of Heros. My problem is that I keep killing the damn lich but I can never select his body to get a key off him.... Is this a bug?

I've never found the key on his body, but rather in one of the tombs/coffins near the top of the stairs by the door.

Talk to the spirit in white (can't remember his name) ask him about terikan, he explains things fairly well. You have to take his phylacerty (sp?) to a specific tomb where there is a vortex, then he is finally killed.
