I can't find an exit, and it isn't shown on the walkthrough map. Should be #10, but there's no such number on the map. This is frustrating after spending months fighting that battle in Mother Egenia's place. I won it, and now can't get to Dragon's Eye 3. Help!

You are correct, the numbers on the map do not refer to the numbers mentioned in the walkthrough. This is not the only case of it.
I have looked it up and it's south of #7. Just walk into the spiral and you should get to the exit at the end.

I will try it right away! I have searched so much, but I thought: if I can confine my search to where the exit actually is, I will find it.

I tried ...

for 35 minutes this morning, found the spiral pathway right south of #7 (there are actually two spiral pathways at a fork, but both lead to the same place at the bottom of the map). No door. No door anywhere around there. I went west a bit, picked up a few wraith spiders and leveled up my Bard, although I could have sworn I had killed everything living on that map except Mother Egenia (the rest of the townsfolk have left). No door. I will try again, but I hate this. I had almost given up on that battle but I have learned in these games that perseverance wins as far as battles go. Just keep thinking and keep trying new strategies. What really defeats me is not being able to find something I need to find to advance.

You were just circling around the exterior, you have to go inside. Instead of going left or right you should take the middle path.
You can even see the exit on the GB map south of #7.

I put in a path in the picture from #7 to the exit. See the attachement.

That area was just so dark on my game, I didn't see it! Now I'm fighting the skeletons and cold wights, which isn't going to be easy either, but is so much more fun than squirreling around limbo! I appreciate the trouble you went to, Grombag and my old helper Kmonster!
