The man, not the bank. As appended:

MANCHESTER, N.H. (July 8) - Leaf it to New Hampshire, where a bank branch was held up by a man disguised as a tree. Just as the Citizen Bank branch opened Saturday morning, a man walked in with leafy boughs duct-taped to his head and torso, and robbed the place.

"He really went out on a limb," police Sgt. Ernie Goodno said Sunday.

Police said the leafy man didn't saying anything about having a weapon, just demanded cash, and was given an undisclosed amount.

Although the branches and leaves obscured much of the man's face, someone who saw images from the bank's security camera recognized the robber and called police.

Officers said James Coldwell, 49, was arrested early Sunday at his Manchester home and charged with robbery. Arraignment was not expected until Monday.

Leaving aside the fact that the sergeant should be shot for that nauseatingly obvious pun, just what idiot is going to attempt bank robbery dressed as a tree? Did he think he'd been inconspicuous--ooooh, among all the other withdrawal-making trees in the lobby? Did he conclude that he could run quickly to the nearest park, and hide himself? Did he just wake up this morning, stretch, and figure, "Hey, why don't I rob a bank dressed as a tree? Bet nobody's done that, before, yup yup!"

Where do these people come from? And is there anyway to stop them from showing up?

My guess is one can find them working for a certain political administration which I shall not name here to avoid fueling an endless political dispute.

However, in light of the fact of said political administration's continuing demonstration of lack of intelligence I feel the matter of educating the general public in an effort to remove this administration's power poses itself

There isn't really enough information to go on. If he had a weapon then yep he's insane, throw him in the loony bin etcetera etcetera. If he just did it as a joke again he's an idiot but just stupid and not wrong in the head. Personally I find the latter amusing to the extent that they keep their stupidity within the law and away from me.

Generally from West Virginia, at least from my own personal experience. It used to be quite the fad back in my pappy's day. Or so they tell me. But then people Pappy's age tell people a lot of things. According to him, it was all well and fine at first. The limbs made good clubs for beating the fleas off and the leaves, well, let's just say that in his day toilet paper was a non issue for criminals.

of course after awhile the drawbacks started to show. The roots tended to tangle in the shoelaces and made the getaway twice as hard as it shoulda been. That wouldn;t have been an issue so much 'cept they started importin' them fancy new fangled dogs that weren;t as lazy as the normal hounds. It started to fall out of fashion about the time ol' Zachariah and his brood was found strangled to death on a hill outside Baccer County. It's kinda embarrassing to get hung on your own limb I guess.

Now I know why my wife gets all gimlet-eyed when I get going on one of my tall tales. We'll have to meet one day and start reeling them off tag-team fashion. Will drive her up a wall.

Fine with me, but I can;t do the driving. I lost my license a couple years back. Not sure which license mind you, but the choices are between the drivers one and the marriage one. I was kinda drunk at the time I burned, err, lost it, and since a possible match between myself and one Skoal Chawing Sandy hangs in the balance, I don't wanna take a chance on finding I lost the wrong one. I got nothing against Skoal mind you, but it just ain't right when a toothless woman can go through as much of it as she can

Doubtful. When I see the words "license" and "BS" in one sentence "driver's" and "marriage" are probably the last notions that come to mind

My guess is that the are from some of the more rural areas - where the idea of marrying someone from OUTSIDE the immediate family hasn't really taken hold...
