welp i would say make sure you have bastard/long sword, morning star, axe and someone with bow...mainly cause there is good magical ones early on in the game.

as far as "racking up" XP the Kuldahar pass and Vale of Shadows (if you are early on in the game) can be good places to get XP, Yeti's are good for early leveling up. Just rest and most of the time you will be attacked. It is a lil tuff early in the game, if thats what your refering to, because your chacters are so weak....i found it easiest to just stock up on healing potions and such and go for it...after bout lvl 5 or 6 things start to balance out and you're not running at every turn...heh

not sure bout your last question....anyone else?

GL and enjoy...this game keeps getting better ;)

Lots of good axes in the game.

Play on Heart of Fury mode or just go through the game - there's plenty of XP.

Disarm the traps or run in circles. You can run around summoned fodder or party members and X will chase around them. Nimble fingerwork on the mouse is needed. ;)

  1. The best proficiencies when starting out, IMO, are large sword, axe, hammer, and flail for melee weapons, because magical weapons of these types tend to be available relatively early in the game. It goes without saying that you should put points into bows or slings.
  2. Dragon's Eye - if you try to rest on the level with the Undead; you'll keep getting attacked by Cold Wights for a decent amount of XP
  3. Before taking on Yxunomei, I had my thief drink a point of invisibility and disarm all the traps.

blunt weapons!

also use a variety of weapons, nothing worse than finding some uber cool weapon that you can't use.

one handed weapons seem more effective + shield. (possible exception - buckler only chars)

i try and give every char a proff point (at least) in a blunt weapon. mace, hammer, flail, club.

seems to be plenty of good:
large swords (long sword, broad sword scimitar)
maces (mace + mourning star)
hammer
dagger
flails

Rather than fight the X lady on her own turf, I took off running. That way I didn't have to deal with the annoying traps, and it spreads out her bodyguards while they chase you allowing you to double team them. But more importantly they can't wack on you as much, because generally your party members are faster. Kinda like a football offense spreading out the defense with 5 wideouts. You get the one on one matchups you want...(or two on one in this case) make sense? hut HUT HIIIIKE!!!! :D

btw i didn't have a prob with traps in freak ladies room....just the rooms before hand

Is this in the last level of the Dragon's Eye(?...wherever it is that has the Yuan-ti)?

If so, I never made it to her. I was going good until I got to the room right before the last battle in there. No matter what I did, one of my party members would get stuck on a trap that paralyzes and poisons. :( Next time, my thief will have better Find Traps abilities. :D

I did it by hasting everyone, then had one party member, equipped with a ring of free action, run up and attack one of the Yuan-Ti, then run back. Then my mage would cast web on the entranceway, while my druid cast entangle and spike growth. In several of the run-throughs I've played, Yxunomei gets stuck behind all the Yuan-Ti trapped by the web/entangle, and I could swear she also gets hurt by the spike growth. So, a couple of my party members nail her with magical arrows and magic missile, while the rest deal with her monster summons and Yuan-Ti who break free. In two of my games, Yxunomei never reached my party.

@Sailor Saturn, don't give up!!

I can get through the Yuan Ti level without a thief (its annoying but it can be done!).

:)

El Gordo, glad you like it. :)

Well, I might go back to that party some day, but right now I'm enjoying soloing through with Koroshi, my Half-Elven, CG, Fighter/Mage/Thief. :D

I beat Yxunomei in my solo game! Because I talked to her then ran and chose to run and rest before trying to beat her, I ended up fighting her in the hallway about where you first see the Odd Little Girl. I ran to the other side, having all my protection spells already cast as well Haste. She cast Cloudkill on where she was standing. After slowing her, I ran through the Cloudkill, unaffected, to the side where the exit to the prior level is. Her Cloudkill spell kept the Yuan-ti from advancing on me. She came at me and I quickly cast another Mirror Image(archers had gotten rid of the first casting for me...) then started attacking her with my Flaming Long Sword +2. Didn't take long before she was dead. :D
