I just got IWD and HOW for X-mas!

Yes, I did! :) I am quite looking forward to playing these games. I must admit that I am a little mystified that my wife would buy these for me, since she usually complains about the amount of time I spend playing BG and BG2. Do you think she has finally given up on me and has moved on? Is she saying that she is no longer interested in spending quality time with me? :eek: :eek:

Nah. ;) She's just a sweetie. :D

So my real question: Is there any reason why I shouldn't go ahead and load both IWD and the expansion at the same time? Having HoW loaded won't detract from playing IWD?

Having HoW loaded with IWD doesn't detract from IWD at all. HoW added some better monster AI and some good eqipment to the game. Enjoy your Christmas present Gwally :D

I also got IWD for Xmas from my wife(actually I got money to get it, b/c she couldnt find it). I held off on HoW b/c I wanted to make sure I liked it, which so far I really do. Maybe we can compare notes as we go through for the first time.

Well, I got BG2 for Christmas, though I'm still not done with IWD which I bought back in June. I tried to buy Heart of Winter with my Christmas money, but I couldn't find it anywhere. :(

You know, my wife also complained that I spend too much time playing the Baldurs Gate games, then she also got IWD for me. Makes me wonder how sincere that was, or if she decided she liked not having me bothering her, LOL.

@DraySkullan and BalthazarUND:

My wife has a couple of tricks she likes to play on me while I play on the computer (I've been playing BG and BGII and the various add-ons). If I am playing in the evenings, she will wait until I am in the middle of a huge complicated battle then chose that exact moment to hand the baby to me. The baby likes to pat the space bar, thus un-pausing the game and causing my characters to die horrible deaths. :o :D To get away from this, I try to play late at night, but she gets me back by making sure that can't sleep in the next morning by pretending she doesn't hear the kids wake up, forcing me to get up and tend to their needs. :rolleyes: :D

Consequently, I haven't got much playing time on IWD yet. I have spent several hours rolling up an interesting party (of Dark Flames, of course ;) ), which was a fun change from BG where you could only roll up one character at a time. I am pleased to see that NPCs in the game seem to react to different characters differently. For example, people kept asking my bard if she would sing a tune. So far, it’s a fun game. :D

Icewind Dale, I wish I could finish that game. I have started half a dozen times, but everytime I get far into the game, my computer goes freaky....(My damn brother thinks he's a computer guru :rolleyes: )

I tell you it's a cursed game!!!

:D

I agree that it is a cursed game. Everytime I get very far, I get a new game to play. When I got to the end of the Vale of Shadows, I got Baldur's Gate. When I got to the end of Dragon's Eye, I got Tales of the Sword Coast. Then, as I'm getting into Severed Hand, my parents buy me Baldur's Gate II for Christmas. I better start playing and get to some new area so I can get another game. ;) :D

I'm the kind of person who can only play one game at a time, and I can't start another until I finish the first. So I dont have that problem. It also saves hard drive space!

Well, like the rest of you, I also got the game... Like last year, my time has been taken up by playing this game, as it was last year with BG2... Heh... :)
