Warm your party by the fire for HoW

What parties do y'all have ready to take to HoW? Any interesting combinations? Or are you thinking of starting from scratch?
I have a party, I think, that covers all the angles:
Human Paladin
Elf Ranger
Half Elf Bard
Dwarf Fighter/Cleric
Human Thief - Dualled to Fighter
Human Thief - Dualled to Mage
I felt this covered any racial/alignment/class problems with quests/items. It also makes the party fighter heavy (which Gruntboy likes
) yet still provides kick-a mage support (mage & bard), whilst removing the need for a dedicated thief.
I am also cosidering a small party of F/Mage, F/Thief, F/Druid, all half-elves; and a group of "Knights": 3x paladin, cleric, bard, and multi mage/thief for support.

Right now, i have two parties ready for HoW (both went through the game till the end):
The "classic" party : Paladin lvl 10, Dwarven fighter lvl 11, Cleric lvl 11, Half-elf Thief lvl 13, Mage lvl 12 and Half elf Cleric/Mage 10/11.
The "alternative" party : Elf Ranger lvl 11, Half elf Fighter lvl 12, Half elf Fighter/Thief 10/12, Dual Fighter/Druid 12/9, Conjurer lvl 12, Gnome Cleric/ Illusionist 10/11.
I tried to do as many quests as possible, but i couldn't reach the cap-not even close. The max experience i gathered was a little above 1 million (per character).I wonder how it would be possible to reach up to lvl 30 in HoW (the expansion is supposed to support up to such high lvls).

I noticed that Bill. My second time thru I got almost every bit of experience and still only had over a million per. I guess it is designed so you can go thru with a party of 3/4 and get closer to the XP cap.
But is the extra 1 or 2 levels worth losing 2 or 3 party members??? I think not. THe more the merrier.

Human Male Paladin

Elf Female Cleric
Human Female Mage/Thief
Human Male Mage
I made it to the end with this group and will try to continue with them.

The party I took through was:
Human Druid
Half-Elf Ranger
Human Conjurer
Dwarf Fighter/Cleric
Halfing Fighter/Thief
Elf Mage/Thief
Probably too many multi-classes for the expansion, since after 10th or so the multis really fall behind in level. Unforunate that I lost my gamesave file.
Not sure if I will bother playing since I have to start over from scratch...if I do though I will definitely make the last two dual classes, and maybe make the dwarf a pure cleric.

@Aegnor...I'm sure someone will send you a saved game file if you don't want to redo it.

Tnx, Weasel, I have no doubt you are right. I shouldn't have said "lost" however, cause I'm pretty sure my saved game is less than 200 km away on an ex-roomate's computer. In fact, yesterday I mailed him to watch out for my files and send them.

Went throught the game with 4 players
1. Straight Fighter
2. Fighter/Cleric
3. Illusionist
4. Thief
Am going through again without a thief, replacing him with a monk.
Does anyone have any problem with the end demon ploke, Poquelin is easy i was just wondering if there were any tactics to make the last fight easier.

A monk in IWD Mr Sleep? Wrong game
Really, its a shame there's to be no kits in HoW
That would've made importing a party lots more fun.

My party is
human male paladin LG
human female warrior NG
elf male ranger NG
human female cleric NG
elf male thief NG
elf female mage LG
i'm now in the Upper Dorn's and my party is average 10 level.
I will play HoW as soon as i will find it but i don't understand how you can reach the cap with playing with all the 6 characters. For now i haven't had any problem also against Xinoumei i hope the game will be harder later.

I played IWD three times through, and my favorite party of the three was
1/2 elf Ranger
dwarven fighter
elf cleric
halfling thief
human mage
...all women, by the way.
