Negative HP

One of my characters once got negative Hp. What does this mean?
What exactly do you mean - negative HP on their greyed-out portrait (i.e. dead)?
I've seen this too - it just means they're dead. If they ever reach -10 with a single blow they cannot be ressurected (too much damage).
Or do you mean negative HP on level up? If con is below 7 then a negative modifier is applied to the hit dice.
