I put aside Baldurs Gate II to try out IWD. It's hard starting out at level 1 ^.^* anyway...I'm in Dragons Eye and at the...uh..forgot her name...the 6 armed banshee snake woman. I am having a very hard time with her. My party is lvl 8, except my thief who is 9. my party is 2 fighters, 1 cleric, 1 thief, 2 mage. Any hint's or tips would be greatly apperciated!! I cast web, throw in 2 skull traps, 3 fireballs (those mostly to kill her lackies) summon some monsters, then start hitting her with magic missles. My cleric casts strength for one, spirtual hammer. My fighters and thief hang back a kill the dead she summons. When she comes in she takes a can of whoop arse and she beats my party down ^.^*

The Snake Lady has high magic resistance, and you need +2 or better weapons to hit her. To defeat her, I hasted my party and had my fighters drink potions of giant strength. My mages kept the Yuan-Ti magic-users busy while my fighters hacked her to death. One of my fighters also used the Messenger of Seth bow with the +2 arrows my party had found.

Yxunomei isn’t just some ‘snake lady’ she’s a marilith, a powerful type of Tana'ri (demon). Here’s a little info:
‘Bold and cunning, marilith are the generals and tacticians for the Blood War. Where the balors are the influence and energy behind the war effort, the marilith are the brains and tactics. Terrible to behold, these creatures have the bodies of giant snakes, with huge, green, scaly coils. From the waist up, they are beautiful, comely females. Besides her obvious snake body, the feature that reveals the true nature of this Tana'ri is her six arms. They are commonly adorned with precious jewelry and highly decorated weapons — marilith most often carry a different weapon in each of their six hands.’

The fact that Yxunomei is a Tana’ri and the archrival of Belhifet (who is Lawful Evil) leads me to conclude that Belhifet must be a Baatezu (devil) of some kind, possibly an exiled Pit Fiend. It's at least consistant with what we know of him. The fact that he summons two Cornugon in the final battle (after HoW is installed that is) only supports this theory.

Morokiane - I like your last message - it bleeds more confidence than my characters did blood the first time through!
However, the key to this level (which I previously found harder than any final battle!!) is clearing out all of the rooms on the way to Yxonomei. If you do not she releases the un-slaughtered minions upon you!
I must admit, my first time through, my characters were the same level as yours. The way I coped (eventually) was by summoning help, retreating my team (excluding summoned creatures), casting area spells, then closing doors behind me. Eventually you will be left with Yxonomei who is magic resistant and you whack her full on in melee.
My second time around, playing in heart of fury mode and expecting huge fatalities (though my average character level is 15-16) I whacked her dead without even realising it was her and without retreating back through the first door! LOADS of exp (180,000) at heart of fury level. (Yes I am gloating - but am privately pleased as I expected to have to reduce battle difficulty!)
The key is summon and summon and drop your main party to missile and area effect spells.
Happy gaming and keep up the battle cry - you will need it!

I beat "Yxunomei" the "marilith" last night. I guess I rolled the lucky dice. She went down fairly easy. It helps when you pelt her with magic missles while she trying to cast stuff ^.^* Two of my party were critically injured but one of my fighters did a last minute critical damage and put the last nail in her coffin. I immediatly saved and broke out the champain
I only had 2 snakes left, they went down easy, looted and went on my way. If only Minsc was there to see such a great victory!
