I got the impression from the website that some of these encounters would add NPCs to your party--is that correct? I didn't see any discussion of interactions with other party members, special quests, stats, etc.

You get to interact(and more

) with new NPCs, but they do not join your party, no.
"joinable NPCs" currently mean a short affair with Haer'Dalis, Edwin or Yoshimo.
The mod's readme is quite explicit about each encounter: to whom it is available(gender or race requirements, in Ribald's case - charisma requirement), where you have to go to meet this character/when it happens/after which quest, and so on. The link is in the post above.

Yes, the readme is explicit, and I think that's a good idea. I was trying to avoid doing so, however, for the same reason that I don't like reading walkthroughs before playing.

Rather, I thought I'd check out your website and see if I could glean a sense of the mod from there--hence, my question about joinable NPCs.
In any case, keep up the good work. It's been a while since we've seen any BG2 mods show up, and quite a few people check here to discuss their favorites, or ask about new ones.

Thank you for the compliments. I'll make sure to post it here, if I complete anything else, on my own or as a part of a team. (I have a quest mod with four new areas long completed, but original voicing takes time).
I don't know about it being a while, though - Infinity Engine Modding News RSS feed seems rather news-heavy to me:
The Gibberlings Three Forums -> Infinity Engine Modding News , and new listings are added to Pocket Plane modlist every month.

I wasn't aware of The Gibberlings Three Modding News list--thanks for passing that along. I've added it to my bookmarks. Still, of 15 entries last month, only one was new--yours--and I should have been clearer at looking for that. The PPG's list has been far slower, of late: only Xan updated twice in the last 2 months, and no other mods referenced on the news page.
But then, summer traditionally tends to be slow for modding in most games. I think people tend to take off and do other things, like, well,
live.

And I for one can't grudge them that, not after all they've done for games like BG2.
