Just wanted some opinions. I'm getting a bit tired of BG2.

If you're lookign for more monster whacking than BG2 you're looking at the right game. The side quests are also lesser than BG2. IWD is RPG with full action packed every step you roam across the map :)

As an expierenced AD&D player, I ask you this one simple question. Are your expections high after playing BG2? If so, no its not worth buying.

Of course its up to you in the end isn't it? ;)

From my point of view, YES IWD is worth buying. Really Reigns of Power (sorry for spelling) what kind of hight expectations can you have after BG2 or even better ToB, really I did not like them that much, story to, not simple but just dumb I guess, plus you get to a god like status even before the game is over LOl.
I say IWD ( in my persepective) has a cooler story and much better atmosphere to the game. The monsters look great and the items are not very overpowered. Every powerfull magical weapon usually always has a drawback which I think is great for balancing the game. Also the music is great in the game, but that is just my pick. I think its worth buying.

I would almost say IWD is a must have. I haven't played it as much as BG, but having a full time job is the main reason for that. But it is a great game for hacking up the baddies, and yes the Music is awesome!

I think IWD is worth the money, check ebay for used copies. BG2 is much more complex, I felt like I was missing something when I first started IWD. IWD is straight-foreward AD&D, create all your party members, no monks (boo-hoo) or other specialty characters. I had forgotten how wimpy a lst level mage was... They improved the spell graphics, and soundtrack. But there are some things I liked that they didn't include, like telling you how much experience you got for quest. It is for low level characters, I think the cap is 1.8million?, and +3 is a very powerful weapon. The programers probably got bored with BG2 also, and put this out to try out new monsters/cold. Be a bard, lots of bard stuff, I wish I had chosen one! :D

um... IWD was released before BG2. Also, Bioware didn't make IWD.
