i had a similar problem once, i think one of the patches fixed it, but since you have a reletively new patch then that is probably not it.

Try copying all of the files in your override folder to another folder something like 'override_backup', and then try it, that will void most of your patches, but it might sort out the problem temporarily.

Remember to keep the backup of all your override just in case you want to paste them back in after.

Also try deleting the files in your cache folder (dont delete the folder) and try that.

I have the same problem! It actually only seems to happen about eight out of nine times. Unfortunately, I've never had all my party members survive the battle and then had it work.

Perhaps a comparison of factors that might affect the bug is in order to see what we have in common?
PII 450 256 MB RAM Voodoo 3 3000 Windows 98
5 party members meleeing Poquelin with Alamion, Mauler (I think that's its name, Shikata's spear), Shocking Flail +4, Presio's Dagger, and Godly/Divine/watchamacallit mace.
1 party member casting magic missiles as fast as possible.
All enemies except Poquelin ignored.
Message dialogue always freezes on:
"Poquelin: Dimension Door
PAUSED
UNPAUSED
Paused for movie"

That's everything relevant that I can think of, and then some. I've ruled out watching the whole movie versus skipping it, letting Poquelin complete his sound files or not, making the screen scroll to the dimension door or not, and having various auto-pauses or not.

If anyone knows of a way to disable the movie, I think that would fix the problem.

Oh, and when I tried clearing the cache and the override it crashed froze instead of hanging. Haven't had time to test again.

This happened but at a different part in the game.

What Mr Sleep said is correct - setup a new folder called override2 or something. Copy all your current override items into your new folder then delete everything in your true override folder.

When you have finished the battle, copy everything from override2 back into your original override folder...

This was what Interplay advised me to do and it worked.

Good luck :)
