You guys have helped me through this game step by step, from reading posts, making threads (my problems with The Guardian) and other such advice, and finally i've got to the final battle and i've lost a number of times now.

I can get past the first section RELATIVELY easily, i mean, i have to use a lot of my protective spells, haste and generally a lot of offensive spells, but then the final part, well i'm not sure i could even do that with a full rest!

The problem is that my fighter and sorcerer are really the only ones who can do any form of damage. My fighter has around strength 28 with a the Backbiter great axe, and usually does 5 or so damage to Madae (for some reason i tend to concentrate on her... or him? him i think). Likewise, some top-end spells from my sorcerer such as flaying do a bit of damage and chain lightning works excellently.

Apart from that though, my Paladin is nothing more than bait, and my Druid (while having been brilliant throughout the game) is sadly lacking any real punch to do any major damage. Only the old favourite Thorn Spray did some damage last time.

Then, my fifth character is my cleric, who is useful if for the simple fact that i've two heals and two mass-heals with him, a long with all the defensive magic, holy power and so forth. Really quite useful.

Anyway, i digress, what seems to happen when i get to the second part of the boss is that i simply cant do enough damage on Madae as to what i was doing the first time around, and more importantly, my characters keep disappearing (Destruction?). The first time it was my sorcerer, pretty much ending the battle there and then, and the last time it was my cleric, meaning i couldnt heal anyone. At the best of times i'm getting Madae down to hurt, at the best of times.

Thanks for any advice guys.

Did you free the monk, and did he agree to help you in the final battle (he should show up at the end with many friends. Did you contact Orrick and succeed in purifying the pool? If the pool as been cleansed, then Isair and Madae cannot refresh when they teleport there. When you get there, they comment sardonically about your characters' cleverness.

In the first battle, assuming you get help from a swarm of monks that appear out from hiding:

1) Send your fastest person over to the room on the right A.S.A.P.! Have him focus entirely on the summoner. At the same time, you might want to move the rest of your group out of the way and try to not get them involved with melee as best as you can.

2) Once the rest of your party is grouped and if the villains are focused on attacking the monks, then have your buffers cast only those buff spells that will last a long time. Forget about Prayer, Recitation, Haste, etc. for the moment. Have those with ranged weapons take out the spellcaster by the throne.

3) Once the summoner in the other room, and the spellcaster at the throne are dead, then have your melee-ers engage the other villains.

4) It's critical that you leave Isair and Madae completely alone until their buffs disappear (run away from them to keep away as necessary). Don't attack them with melee weapons, ranged weapons, or spells.

You may also want to cast healing spells on the head NPC monk.

5) Once the Isair and Madae's buffs vanish, then attack away. At this point, perhaps only the one sent in to attack the summoner alone might have damage. Otherwise, no one should have any damage at all.

6) Now, take the time to quickly loot and cast your buffs with the shorter duration.

In my battles, Isair usually blocks off Madae at the second site, so I send in a tank that can handle slashing weapons to focus on him(My Barbarian buffed with StoneSkin was practically immune, and just in case, my Cleric filled out her slots with Heal and Mass Heal). Against the Slayer Knights, I have everyone else focus on them.

There are some good tactics mentioned in the walkthrough as well. One tactic I figured out is to cast the spell "Spell Resistence" from a scroll on one of them. This spell RESETS the spell recepient's magic resistence to whatever the spell casters level is plus 12. With scrolls the casters level is that of the one that "wrote" the scroll and not the one reading it. As best I know every scroll's writer is the minimum level needed for that spell. Therefore since "SR" is a 5th level cleric/paladin spell Isair or Madae would have their resistence dropped from whatever ridiculously high level it is to just a mere 21 (12 + 9 which is the level a cleric must be to cast that spell). If your sorceror has taken spell penetration a couple of times and/or spell focus they should have a much easier time doing some major damage to one of them. Note that it is a paladin spell too and thus the scroll can be read be one. So you now have a mission for your paladin other than being "bait".
