Fallout 2 / Windows XP crash

Hey Guys, I've been searching through the internet for something that would fix my problem; however, i keep reading a fix that does not work for me.
My fallout game is crashing on the "please stand by" screen; the thing is, I don't have the process "imgicon" running on my pc.
Could anyone help me please?!
its frustrating!

Another Fallout problem x winXP

Hi there guys 'n gals...
I am running wesmiosis windows with sp2 and the problems i have are even worse than yours. except FT neither F1 nor F2 would install in my machine. F1 says that the game is not compatible with this version of windows and F2 doesn't even start loading the setup screen (comp freezes). tactics installed and runs fine... Isn't there somwhere around an emulator or smt reliable? What to do?
Thanks for the attention and keep the legendary games alive!

We could make a sticky thread only for crashing issues in XP.

Here's my problem with Fallout 1:

At the last level of the military base when I load my saved games they keep crashing. I saved in three different slots and they are all corrupted. i don't mind going through all the military base without saving, but the reason why I save at every turn in combat is that I don't want my dog to die neither my party friends/members. Any idea for this like editing saved games, installing a patch, running in windows compatibility mode? How do I run in compatibility mode? Will my corrupted slots still be corrupted?

Keep alive this great forum and this great site. ;)

The problem with your corrupted saves is the fact that you save during combat.

It's widely known that especiallly in Fallout 1 saving during combat has high chance to corrupt the save.
