XP or WinRar won't open cab files on game disk!

The game manual is contained within one of the data.cab files and the manual is installed to the main game directory. I am curious as to which cab file has the manual and am wondering why XP or WinRar won't even let me view those cab files, even after copying one of them to the hard drive so that it's no longer write-only. What's so special about game disk cab files?

It's because it's a cabinet file of installation files. It's basically all the C++ and Code used to make Dungeon lords, and you won't find the game manual there.

Also, you probably can't extract it due to the copy protection on the CD.

If you need the manual, google should easily find you an online one. And if not-

Video Game Cheats - Video Game Reviews - Video Game Codes - Video Game Web Site - GameFAQs has text based guides that usually start with controls and basics related things.

I am not asking for the manual because it comes in booklet form in the box disks that I bought from a store.

Also, it has nothing to do with protection because no version of Dungeon Lords has any copy protection. I know because all versions that I purchased, I made personal copies simply by dragging to desktop and burning back.

I rather think the problem lies in the fact that the cabs are of a set that's bound to the install program.

So the manual.pdf IS on the disks, but hidden in one of the cab files just like I said in my previous post. During install, the manual pdf IS extracted and placed in the main DL directory. It doesn't just appear out of nowhere you know.

All I know is before installing the game, you don't see it on any of the disks, and after installing the game, the manual.pdf is there

Then what was the point of this thread? If you have a hard copy of the manual and the manual ON your computer, why bother creating a thread about Manuals and extracting them from a .cab file with WinRAR?

Once again, the point is focused on the title of the thread, wondering why XP or winrar couldn't open the cab files in question, which are in fact installshield cab files.

There is a freeware program, WinPack 2.31, that opens, unpacks, or modifies install shield cabs.

The DL manual is on the last disk that contains only a data4.cab file. In there in the group 13 folder is the game manual. Now my curiosity can be laid to rest. :)

This topic seems to have barely anything to do with the game, and since I think George answered his own question, this thread is now closed.
