If so who do you root for, who's your favourite player etc.?

Me, I'm an Athletics fan and have been for a very long time. Favourite current player is Danny Haren, although Jack Cust is catching up fast. All time Bert 'Campy' Campaneris. Only hate one team, no prizes for guessing who (Evil Empire natch), but still have a deep dislike of the Twins.

Note to moderators:

If this should be elsewhere, Other Entertainment for example, please move it, although Devil Ray fans might find 'entertainment' a misnomer.

Also, if nobody shows an interest in the thread, after what you might consider a reasonable period of time, just delete it.

Love them Blue Jays, representing Canada and all. Too bad they won't make wildcard.

Last nights game almost got too interesting toward the end for my liking.

What puzzles me is the way your pitching's been since the ASB along with what looks (on paper anyway) to be a very good offence, how come you've been struggling so much?

I agree. Before the season the Jays were a sleeper to win the division, or at least compete. Now it's like the train has completely derailed.

I used to love to watch the Jays during the 90's. I had a bag and everything. But I really like NL ball better, and since I'm no sports bigamist, I have succumbed to the family love of the Mets. Like I said before- ya gotta believe!

Edit: Lest anyone consider me a frontrunner, I just want to assure you that I've been with the Mets through thick and thin, including being present in Shea when [url="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Young_%28baseball_player%29"]Anthony Young[/url] lost his historic 27th consecutive decision.

The Mets are my NL team, a crazy win tonught against the Pads. Two of the best closers in the history of the game take turns trying to blow it, with Hoffman 'winning' the contest.

I think the biggest problem is that the Jays have sucked soooo badly at knocking runs in. Take today, they get runners on second and third with 1 out and no one can come up with a sac fly.

Haren's stuff is sick by the way. I was shocked to see those back to back big flys. The A's I think are much better than their record indicates.

As for the Mets, I was hoping they'd face the Tigers in the World Series last year, but they could do it this year for sure.

Boston Red Sox. I can't say I have a favorite on the team, since most seem to do well. I am a bit peeved with Ortiz lately, but other than that full steam ahead.

If you heard a distant screaming of abuse at Geren last night The Z, it was me, I couldn't believe he was dumb enough to bring Brown in again after he gave up three runs the night before. Should have expected it given how lousy he's (Geren) been I guess, I still can't figure out how Brown riggled out of that mess. I thought the A's had a patent on lousy ABs with RISP, but Beane seems to have passed on the secret to his old friend JP.

Strange things seem to happen to Haren in Toronto, gave up 8 runs in his first two innings last year but got the W, threw three belt high fastballs right down broadway to your best hitters, and still got the W somehow last night.

Yeah, well that's the Blue Jays for you. They look like they have a shot at winning every game and then somehow they shoot themselves in the foot, whether it's by errors, untimely strikeout's, and worst of all, low average with RISP.

Congrats on the sweep by the way. The A's are .500 now right?

EDIT - I didn't answer one of the original questions...favourite player. On the Blue Jays, it'd have to be Big Frank, out of the league, I gotta go with Ichiro.

Yeah, we're both at .500 now, the A's are something like 14 and 7 since Chavez and Crosby went on the DL, coincidence? I think not.

Best of luck with the Angels, you've got a good record against them, but they are the real deal this year.

I love baseball which is good...however I live in Western Pennsylvania so I'm a Pirates fan which is bad. Our team may suck but at least we still have one of the nicest stadiums in the country so thats something. If you are a baseball fan and find yourself in the Burgh on a baseball night its worth a trip just to see PNC Park. Let's Go Bucs!!!

Yep, the Jays are gonna need to be at their best to take the Angels.

Have fun with the Devil Rays though.
