Idan is that u ????
anyway i think u should keep jan coz he has far more better thief states then imoen and because he is a multi class he can be both good illusionist and thief !!!!

You're pretty magic heavy already. I'd go with the better thief ... i.e. Jan

U might wanna leave Aerie behind for Imoen. (for the story)
If u dont care about roleplaying tho, I would stick with Aerie (cleric/mage is better then thief/mage in ur party imo).

If you leave Iomen, you are an evil party indeed. To left your sister and playmate! In such a dark place! Unbelievable!

Well, it is roleplaying again. I hope, at least.

Absolutely. This is the most humiliating part of the game for me. I'm not a psycho, and I know in my heart that she's only part of a computer program, but I cannot manage the cruelty to dismiss Imoen. Even my evil party picked her up. SHE'S YOUR SISTER FOR GOD'S SAKE!!!

Well hell, if you're not making emotional decisions, then you haven't got into the RPG the way you should
Jan, total idiot. Imoen, cheery girl who's your sister. Imoen is as good a thief as BG2 needs, so why waste your time with someone who levels in two classes when you can have someone who focuses it all in the world of mages?
How can you not take wonderful, cheery Imoen you monster!

Not to mention that if you don't have Imoen...Bodhi has the nerve to laugh at you saying that you are hiding Imoen from her...How dare she...Imoen could kick her A$$ solo with one hand tied behind her back...

Imoen is the better mage, you need all the mages you can get. Besides, her stats at thief are OK for the rest of the game, and you can improve them with potions, armor and rings. Besides, she is more important to the story than Jan.
Take her better. Besides, leaving her to rot at the Asylum is truly evil (considering all you did to free her from Spellhold). But then, you are the Son of Bhaal.

Leave her! Stick with Jan for thievery, and Edwin for magery.
Come over to the dark side of the Force, Luke! Muwa-HAHAHAHA...!
Oh, wait a minute. Wrong universe. Sorry...

Jan isn't able to have 8th level spells without xp cap remover. With proper items Imoen is as good thief as Jan and she is one of the most powerful mages in this game. What is more, you will not see several interesting dialogues if you don't take her.

What proper items give Imoen a 100 in pickpocketing (to use in merchants), or 130 in locksmithing and trap detection, or an 80 in trap creation? I'm not saying Imoen isn't good, I'm just saying I've yet to encounter thievish items which make her as good as Jan--after all, *he can use the same items.*

Imoen rules IMHO - i just got her up to level18 and she beat all 3 evil dragons without resorting to cheese
Edwin's female voice is possibly one of the most annoying things in the game - reminds me of an ex (shudder)

How bad is it if you play a computer game and a character reminds you of an ex

o.k so I will take Imoen instead of Jan I just cant leave her there [pretty pathetic]but does Imoen's thief abilities are enogh to disarm and open all the traps in the game?

well after you lose yoshimo i think the game tones down the locks and traps which are on the direct path of the game (i.e the underdark) so that imoen can take down most if not all the other traps/locks. Well that is what i encountered anyway ....

As Quitch pointed out earlier, Imoen thief abilities are fine for the basics (traps and locks) but she's no good as a stealth scout or pickpocket without enhancements such as shadow armour or potions of master thievery.
Mind you, give her the staff of the magi and you're well away...with boots of speed it becomes the Imoen solo spectacular
