playing through tutu->tob

i never originally played bg1 but many years ago played bg2 and enjoyed it thoroughly, however i managed to procure myself a copy of bg1+totsc/bg2+tob/iwd1+2/nwn+addons for the cheap price of £15, and am now going to do complete run throughs all of them.

im going to start off with the bg series, and am going to run it in multiplayer mode using tutu, i will eventually revisit the game to use the npcs and get the full feeling of the story but currently i just want to make a party to play through the entire game. however im having issues deciding what party to use.

this is what i have in mind currently:

cleric/ranger multi class -> main healer / buffer / offtank
kensage -> dps / nuking
swashbuckler -> locks / traps / tanking

how does this party sound for a well rounded group?
and also ive heard that proficiencies would need to be fiddled a bit, especially the kensage seeing as katanas are best for them in bg2, but there are no katanas in bg1 are there?

anyway, help appreciated, cheers.

Kensage is crap for what you're planning, use a figthusionist instead. Far more fun and stronger.

so ur saying a multi class fighter / illu would be better than say a dualled 13 kensai / mage?

im thinking xp wise by here aswell remember, cus i already have 1 multiclassed character so even tho im only using 5 pc's if i took another with me it would be the qeuivalent of using 5 characters so im shooting myself in the foot already

I also don't recommend kensai because you can't achieve high lvls in BG1

well i could always go straight fighter and then alter him when i import into bg2 via an editor (i cant do it vanilla cus im using tutu remember).

the only problem is it seems a lot of fuss and bother altering the thaco +damage and saves etc different between classes / sub classes doing it this way

You won't have problems with that Kensai. Just cast Barkskin on him. I'd recommend Quarterstaff, unless you're going for dualwield, then longswords or probably your best bet.
