The Egg!!!!

(SPOILER).. oops ok Ive just got the game, I know I know Im years behind. I seem to be a bit thick, for some reason I cant put the egg in the chest (chapter 2 end of the dungeon).. Am i just not doing it right..lol

do you in north road, griffin inn , and take mxxxx 's challange?
if you do, i remember it can only place one item in crate .
place wrong item will appear hostile creature.
place egg will appear a door for exit
