IWD music files

One of the reasons i love IWD is that it's a full featured adventure, by that I mean there is excellent attention to detail. Take the music files for instance. I love the music in IWD. Does anybody know which directory those media files are in? what are the file names? Are they mp3's or wav's? Please let me know.

thanks

I absolutely agree. The musical score for IWD is great music. Period. Far better than BG 1 or 2, IMO. I have been told the music was avail in MP3 format on Napster. Is that still correct, anyone?

Napster’s given up the ghost (eventually it may come back online though), but other swapping programs will likely have the music too. I thought BG1’s music was pretty good, and BG2’s romance themes were nice but Icewind Dale is by far my favorite. The main theme just kicks ass. :D

I liked the music too. I think team baldur's gate or someone offers as a free download the stuff you need to listen to the music in IWD. I did it a while ago so I don't recall exactly where I got it. but the music files in the game need to first be extracted, and then converted from acm to wav files. it's pretty easy when you get the software.

Just remembered, the IWD soundtrack is available for purchase on CD - from Interplay and Music CD places.

Pay for a whole CD? *Shudder* That’s like getting a whore. Why spend money when, if you apply yourself, you can get the same service for free?

:D :D :D

That's some twisted logic you got there Kayless.

Technically, copying the CD or dowloading the mp3's or cracking the game code to get the music is more like whoring (in that you are breaking the law). Remeber, Gamebanshee does not condone any form of illegal activity (although we do turn a blind eye to Mr Sleep and his goats).

However, your reasoning does appeal to me. All of a sudden I feel dirty because of those CD's I have purchased over the years. Whoring myself to the music industry. :D

Don’t get me started on the music business Grunt. They’ve been ripping folks off for years. And when a cool service like Napster comes along and people are willing to share their music files with each other, the industry panics and shuts them down. These people are making millions and they b!tch over pennies! Image

In any case, I don’t see how it’s unethical to use Icewind Dale to get the music you want when you've already bought the CD. You don’t even need to crack anything. Just get a tape recorder and put it up to the speakers while the game plays the music you want. Saying a person can’t do that is like telling them they can’t record things off the radio or the T.V. Personally I won’t allow Big Brother to restrict my activities that much. Image

Don't let those fat cats in the music industry pimp their products on you! Resist the vile temptation of their whores! Resist today! Resist tomorrow! Resist until freedom and justice reach the land of music!

Hmm. Since you're not suggesting that people *cough* breach copyright or otherwise *ahem* engage in illegal activities, I can't really censure you. :D

Just watch that potty-mouth young man. :D

Ooh, it’s hard to top varmint. Though a senile old man once called me an ornery polecat. That's pretty bad too. Image Image Image
