Ok I haven't actualy got the game yet but, I already have my first character planned out. I'm going to make him a weapon master eventualy that specializes in Bastards swords. But ofcourse I wanted to make the most of the silver sword so I chacked to see what it was so I could specialize in that, but it says Universal sword. Can someone tell me what that means?

It means that every character can use it, no matter of class or race, and thus noone can have weapon focus/specialization for it.

That sucks, couldn't they just throw the weapon proficency feat on it. But I geuss if that's the case I'll just go pure fighter or maybe a different prestige class.

The sword is not really great (to me). A couple of bonuses, better fitted to round of on average than a damage dealing weapon. If you're going all out melee style, chances are, you already have a much preferred sword already... even it was a sword you can use your weapon focused feats on.

Yeah, you can't plan a build around that weapon for reasons already pointed out. It will decrease your AB for most characters and the extra damage doesn't make up for that IMO.
I suppose a pure wizard with just the basic weapon proficiencies could actually inflict a little melee damage with it....
I didn't even use it in my games, except for the special abilities a couple of times.
