Substantially Increasing an Attribute: Making a "deal" in The Tomb of Voraatus.

Here is the walk through section #17:

In particular I'm referring to the "Note" at the bottom of #17.

Basically you say "no way" when first offered the opportunity in the dialog section with Voraatus - and then you make your own deal to increase one attribute (at the expense of others). Once thats done you pull-out of the dialog section and have at him.:mischief:

Now I've seen as little as a 5 point increase, or as much as a 20 point increase without the Fool of Fortune heraldry. With the "Fool" I've seen as much as a 24 point increase.

The basic idea is keep other attributes at more modest levels with one attribute at a very high level (at a point where you really don't want to spend more experience points advancing it.. say a million + per point). The more modest level attributes can always take the hit in point count because they are easy to increase later (because of their more modest value - say 70 points or less).

Typically Strength or Intelligence is your very high level skill and you want to increase it further. Strength has a one-to-one damage adjustment modifier. Intelligence cuts down on the cost of skill increases (particularly for those without learning bonuses in need of higher levels for that skill without them). Note my post here however:

To further "max" the benefit of this scheme.. do not turn in more than the one relic that you are required to have *turned in* (to get to the tomb of souls) - i.e. the "Horn". Save the others until you have made your deal. Their +3 points each will stack on your high level attribute further.

To even further "max" this benefit.. keep those relics until after you have your other attributes up as far as you want to increase them. (Its handy here to have several million points to spend right after making your "deal" - placing them in your other attributes up as high as you think is worthwhile.. and then letting the "boon of the relics" increase them some more.) :)

Anyway..

Now just *HOW* do you get higher points when making your deal?

For the longest time I thought this was purely a computerized dice-roll - i.e. totally variable, but not now.

The trick is..

1. obviously save first before entering dialog with Voraatus.

2. after pressing the "action" button on Voraatus's real tomb - press the action button again to initiate dialog.

You might say.. "well, duh". The trick however is that the greatest point distribution seems to be when dialog is initiated the most quickly after opening the tomb. Unfortunately the fastest dialog opening is NOT obtained by immediately pressing the action button again after opening the tomb (i.e. a ""double-tap" doesn't cut it). Instead you have to time those milliseconds just right and press the action button again very soon after pressing it to open the tomb.
