spoiler guide says "Drop down to the lower floor and move the wooden bar sealing the large red double doors. "

I have absolutly no idea how to do that. I'm standing in front of the damn thing, I see an interact icon I've never seen before and everything I try fails to move the thing.

Best solution I've experienced so far:
Mister_T wrote:Yeah I had this problem too and I stopped also playing the game because of it :( ... But I tried one last time recently and the door opened :D !! The trick that worked for me was the one that you should go to the door try moving it and if it doesn't move then save to that point (and make sure you are close to the handle... and just to be sure be sideways to the handle*). And once you have saved then reload the savepoint. After the reaload I sidestepped the door open... I was thrilled!! And now I'm playing the game again. First time was with a brujah and now with a gangrel.
* Meaning you have to stand facing the locking bar, with the handle to your right, preferably with the mouse angled so that you have the interact icon. Save. Reload. Retry.

What, I stand in front of the door, Quicksave, try, reload, try again, reload, try again and so on until it works?

I just did that like 10 times, can I just noclip through the damn door?

Is this fixed in 4.2?

I think you need to use a real save. The quicksave tend to not allow for things like these. And I've always gotten this workaround to work the first time.

Check the sticky in the main forum board for more info if this still doesn't work.

Ans yes, you can always no clip through the door. Other than the team wanting another obstacle that made use of pushing stuff, which I think is only 2... I see no other reason why it's there at all.

Yes it is. I completely moved the bar to the side because many people had this problem and it doesn't make much sense to lock Ming in from the outside anyway :) .

Yes it does! When you've fought her, you'd want to lock her inside if you were to live/work in the temple!! :D
