Neverwinter Battlegrounds

Post by Dastal »

Well, among my projects I hope to break new grounds in terms of Neverwinter Nights. What I am attempting to do is make a script core that can be transfered to various maps to create a true RPS. We're talking Warcraft meets Dungeons and Dragons. We're talking strategy meets roleplaying. We're talking one heck of an amazing addvancement, both in RPG's and RTS. This is Neverwinter Battlegrounds. I will eventually try to make a random map and deathmatch system for it, but to start it will be two player B&D. So here's the idea, initially the map is huge and dark. You start with three "Commoner" class people and one Ranger with "Leather of Riding". This gives him a movement of 100 ft/rnd and a AC simsilar to leather. The Commoners will have a number of gems that they can drop on the ground one will be a "Town Center Gem" another will be a "Brracks Gem" Another may be a "Tower Gem" The next might be a "Wall Gem" et cetera. When you drop the gem on the ground, if you have a certain amount of resources (Gold, possibly "Wood Gems", "Iron Gems", "Food Gems", etc. that are "harvested" by having your Commoners properly equipped and in a forest, iron mine, farm, etc.) the building will be built. Inside the building, you will then be able to talk to an NPC who will alow you to make various other units such as fighters, rangers, paladins, monks, mages, warriors, theifs, clerics, bards, etc. Or buy various weapons or "research" spells and upgrades. Maybe a place where you can perform dwoemors, etc. I know that curently most of this doesn't seem possible, but I have a lot of experience in other games where map design where certain things were "impossibe" so I have hope here. Well Comments? Questions? Suggestions?

Starcraft, Cossacks and Age of Kings. In all three, I am part of SCN Punk (www.scnpunk.com), part ot the Heaven Games (www.heavengames.com) network. It is considered by many to be one of the foremost scenario design teams out there. Our current active divisions include Cossacks: European Wars, Empire Earth and Age of Kings. Legend holds that divisions will be opening for Neverwinter Nights, Age of Mythology and Wacraft III. After that, the development of a Dungeon Siege team may begin.

Well, I'll certainly be interested in how things go. :) I'm planning to design a small, randomized dungeon that can host a few scenarios that test different classes' abilities.
