if i turn into a werewolf or greater werewolf are my hands/paws considered magic with regard to hitting creatures affected only by magical weapons or would i be a useless wolf in that aspect?

I believe they count as +3 weapons.
SPOILER (Highlight to read):
These claws can also be dispelled, so you can use your normal weapon and receive bonuses from it AND your new form.

Just wait until Watcher's Keep and mid expansion. You won't be able to hit anything with them.

Most enemies are so powerful in that phase of the game that +3 weapons aren't a big deal anymore.

Yep. You'll be using +5 and +6 weapons anyway. You could always take advantage of what I posted though.
I have a fighter/shapeshifter and wow, that character is powerful.

You have someone cast the spell called "Dispel Magic" on you while you're in werewolf form. If you haven't started the character yet, I suggest you be a shapeshifter until the fifteenth level and the dual class into a fighter so you are more potent in melee. The level fifteen is so that you can summon a Deva to dispel your claws. If you put five points into scimitars, you'll have nice damage and do five attacks per round and by end game you'll have a constant AC of -24 and resistances at around 70. At that point you CAN use scale armor as well as Valygar's armor, which I recommend as it gives you resistance to magic damage.

This combination has always been something i wanted to try. But why scimitars?

Oh, well it doesn't have to be. At first I used two scimitars, until I got a shield, then I used either a scimitar/shield combo or a certain staff. It's all a matter of whether you need the extra AC and resistance boost or not. But the scimitar's frost damage goes through most protections, so it's nice against spellcasters too.
You have to follow the druid restrictions in regards to weapons.

Right forgot about that

But still i would prefer the Staff of the Ram.

That's what I used for most of the game, but you'd be surprised at how often you need the scimitar/shield combo later on.

SPOILER:
You have to win it in a card game from the COnrugon at level three of Watcher's Keep. At that point it's a +4 weapon, but later on, in Sendai's Enclave, in the room with the lich, there's an item called the "Lich's Skull". So if you have those two items and the gold, you can go to Cespenar and he'll create the Spectral Brand +5.
