Hello! I don't know if this is the correct forum to post this, or if it's against GB's rather strict rules, but i found a marvelous online rpg. Not one of those hackfests that give you a limited number of battles against other players per day, but rather a "true" RPG, complete with lots of exquisite detail from the game master. This is the link, i hope you like it. I haven't stopped playing for 4 hours now :D

Sryth - Free Online RPG

By the way i rolled a character with near godly stats, i don't know if i was lucky or the roll system is flawed :)

Agility 20 superhuman
Might 19 incredible
Body 19 incredible
Aura 19 incredible
Mind 14 above avg
Spirit 12 average
Luck 20 superhuman

It has been ages since i had played such a story driven game. It's like reading a book and playing a PnP game at the same time. :) Ooh, and the genereic "Slay the goblins" quests just bring out a warm fuzzy feeling. But the developer has covered many aspects and details, and best of all: there is no considerable difference between f2p and p2p members.

So do you continue playing the game ? Does it get better or worse over time ?
I've tried it out myself (got a character with 19 in all stats but luck and body which were 20 on my 3rd roll), but after a few nice hours and some frustration (couldn't find out how to finish the goblin quest, a very boring kill rats quests and a not saved game stat) I quit.
Unlike you I got the impression that the difference between f2p and p2p members is immense. (ad about member only quests after each combat, locations you can only visit as paying member, enormous XP and gold bonus, ...)

Well for me Renaissance Kingdoms is the best RPG game I've played in the browser game world. It's not your traditional RPG but it's a lot of fun and can be as deep as you want it to be. It's a mix of strategy and RPG. You log in each day to do your job (whether it be miner, farmer, innkeeper, carpenter etc) which is done via the website game system but you handle all your roleplaying via the forums. It's set in Renaissance Europe and you can become land owners, militia, high ranking nobles etc. People even design banners on the forums with their titles.

As an example: Recently in my county of Chester the local bandits (known as the Wolves of Sherwood) overthrew the town council and installed themselves as rulers of Chester creating a political backlash in the forums with both sides claiming they were the rightful rulers etc.

It's pretty deep if you let it. I spend most of my time as a Cow Farmer just trying to make enough cash to survive by selling my meat in the market (which is bough by fellow players) so the political world just passes me by....
