There is no demo for the Witcher. Sorry. According to an interview by Firingsquad on one of Atari's PR staff (I think), she confirmed that there will be no demo for this game. The reason was that the game itself is too big to create a demo out of it.

That reason is bull.
It's pretty popular not to release demos these days. But that reason is just false per definition. Their call not to make a demo, no reason to make up false motives for it.

I think the biggest issue with creating a demo for The Witcher is that it would have to be pretty long to really give people a good understanding of the game. If they just included the Kaer Morhen tutorial area or even the Outskirts, it might do more harm than good. The Witcher really doesn't start to take shape until you're inside Vizima.
Given the length of the game, though, they could probably make a demo that includes all of Kaer Morhen, the Outskirts, and the Temple Quarter. That would probably be like a 20-hour demo (which kind of defeats the purpose of a "demo"), but I think it's the only way to do the game justice.

As for the game being to big thing thats dumb if they could make a demo out of gothic 3 theres no way they cant make a demo out of this.

Somewhat agree, though at the same time, that Gothic 3 demo didn't really wholly represent how the game will play out either. If they had included a certain part of the story (aside from the beginning two towns) where you are allowed to play with the main character with some upgrades to a number of his abilities (magic, alchemy and others), it will give a much larger picture of what the game really plays like.

I had my game pre-ordered months before the game was due for release. A demo wouldn't have interested me but it is important to some people so is disappointing but hey ... that's life

Looks like I won't buy this game then. As my computer meets the min. requirements but not the recommended, I won't buy the game unless I'm able to test and see if it's playable in my comp...
