Patch 1.2 problems

I just downloaded the 1.2 patch for ROMD and I cannot get my saved games to load. Has anyone else had this problem?
I am one of the people who has not (until now) had any technical problems with ROMD. I get through the opening movies and to the main menu screen. I click on Single Player Options>Load Game, I pick my saved game, it goes to the loading screen, then shuts down and returns me to Windows.
I have used one of the character editors that GameBanshee lists under Downloads, but this is affecting all of my saved games, not just the one with altered characters.
Any help would be appreciated, preferably before I return the game to EB.

@HLD, I had that happen, too, even before the 1.2 patch. After my party drank from the Invisibility fountain, any attempt to save the game would corrupt the savegame file. I had to go back to a previous version.

It seems your save-game files were corrupted. I lost one of my save-games when I installed this patch. I had saved the save-game folders before i installed, and, looking back at that particular slot, it was indeed corrupted... but it still worked before the patch.

The reverse happened to me with the patches. Before the v1.2 patch the game keeps on crashing and I lost a few saved games (luckily I saved very regularly). After the patch, the problem has resolved and I found that the game loads quicker. I suppose I am tempting providence now that I said there is no problem......

I contacted UbiSoft with my problem and they tried to tell me that there were any number of reasons that my games could be crashing. Most of the possibilities they cited were hardware incompatibilities (ie-video card, sound, etc.).
What baffled me about my saved game crash bug was that it affected all of my saved games. Even when I'd start a new game, the game would crash to Windows after the loading screen. It happened every time I tried to resume a saved game regardless of whether I created the game before or after th patch was installed.
After about five days of beating around the bush with UbiSoft tech support, I took the game back to EB and exchanged it for Arcanum. I am still gunshy about uninstalling it beacuse I don't know how reliable the 1.1 Uninstaller is.
