Battle for the Baelnorn

Post by Skuld »

OK, here's my problem. I'm stuck. I have a game saved in the prisons in the room next to the sarcophagus emmitting the blue-green light. You enter the room, disabling the traps on the door, you approach the sarcophagus and who appears out of nowhere but about 12 Mohrgs, 2 Lichs, and an Archlich. How the hell do you kill all those Mohrgs? The 3 Lichs are I could handle, but the Mohrgs are apparently immune to turn undead and have been the whole game so far so that's no surprise. But this is only one of only two battles I can't finish the other being the one in the First Cellar in the bottom right corner with Greyna(not spelled right) the drow. There are about 8 other Drow Guards and a few Arracats all that come outta the side rooms once you start fighting. I left it and just cleared the rest of the floor because I heard all she's got is the skull of that Elf chick, and it seem's like a side quest so I didn't bother. If anyone can tell me anything that would help I'd appreciate it.

Ahh... this must be what you were referring to in the other thread. The massive undead battle isn't that hard. Again, power up before hand (including protection spells and also the cat's grace, bull's strength route) and also make sure you have chain lightning, fireball, fire storm or some combination thereof for the mohrgs. They can be a pain, but you can drop them down with the right spells in a hurry. I can't remember if the cone of cold worked on them (it's not supposed to work on undead, but it seems to anyway), so you may want to try that as well. Don't bother trying to turn them as I have never been successful in that at any level. As for the drow, power up, get close to take away spell casting and archery, kill off the arracats (blasted nuisance) and then concentrate on one at a time. Keep the cleric available for spot healing and dont be afraid to target them with area spells. If you have fire storm or flame strike, my recollection is that the drow are susceptible notwithstanding magic resistance. Even fireball will generally get through to at least a couple of them. Do not make the mistake of letting them snipe at you while you sit back and do the same, they always seem to win that strategy.

Thanks a lot for finding what I was reffering to. OK I think I've got a decent strategy thought up for at least the undead/lich battle. I'll try it after I get the perfect couple for my new game. I'm gonna keep posting there, because since the game seemed relatively simple with a few exceptions with a 6 man party. I ecourage others for trying going solo or with a duo, so keep checking my solo now duo post and that speed adjuster kicks ass.

Where in the lower keep is the Baelorn located? Green/blue room you said? Could you give me any indication? (north, south, west, east).

It's on the Prison level, and if you've seen the row of tombs on the bottom it's the last one on the right.
