hey I started a new game(haven't played in a while) and I'm a pure sorcerer. I wanna just get thru the dungeon but every time I enter the mistress's room, golems attack me and my spells are resisted every time. What do you recommend? btw i'm playing solo

I suggest using the spell spider spawn if you have it. Also, if you go to the room where they're located, you can pick them off separately. At your level, you can't hurt them with spells. Any summons you have should do the job.

Summons. Or Invisibility spells.

In some of my games, after I killed them, they still came when the alarm bell rang and attacked my characters. Yes, they were dead, and it even said so on the screen. It could have been caused by a mod, but I haven't been able to pin down which mod was causing that to happen. I just wanted to let people know about that particular hazard.

It must be a mod Vondondu, I've never had that happen to me, and I've been through CI more times than I've had hot dinners, what mods are you running?

"If your offensive magic doesn't work, use your spells to strengthen and heal your party"
Solo mages should take down golems with ease. Just focus on your defensive spells. A solo Sorcerer has absolutely no need of the spell Spider Spawn, since his 4 lvl slots are insufficient. But there are other helpful buffing low-level spells which your sorcerer should have:
Shield
Mirror Image
Melf's Minute Meteors
Haste
Stoneskin
Improved Invisibility
Use these and a proper quarterstaff and your Golem problem will be solved. If your strength is too low, use DrawUponHolyMight from your Bhaal powers. If you play evil(and with low strength), then MMMs picked up at the start are essential.
When you get out of the dungeon, there is a strength enhancing belt which should be used in similar situations, not to mention other useful spells such as Lower Resistance.

I'm confused. I love playing Sorcerers, and always include Spider Spawn.

Likewise. I think it's a good starting spell.

It's a great summoning spell, because like Animate Dead, it gets better at higher levels.

I have no room for it. There are much more needed spells in that level. My choices are Stoneskin, ImprInvisibility, Minor Sequencer, Teleport Field and Farsight. Drop even one of those and you'll be in a lot of trouble later.
Also, Animate Dead, while a great spell, also has no place in my book. I pick Spell Immunity, Spell Shield, Sunfire, Lower Resistance and Breach. Likewise, all of those spells are essential to a solo Sorcerer.

I never pick Teleport Field, Improved Invisibility, Monor Sequencer, Farsight, Spellshield, Sunfire or Breach and I had a breeze playing the game as a solo sorcerer. Never really found a use for them. I think Spiderspawn is very useful early on.

Teleport Field and Farsight might be two spells I've never even cast once in all the time I've spent playing BG.
BTW, Cren, you don't use Breach? That's like my most used spell!

Melf's Meteors: crumble all those walking ceramic pots on steroids into dust! Don't forget Haste, either. Makes those meteors into planetoids.

Well, Breach is not very needed in the vanilla game. Farsight and Telefield too. I must've been thinking about solo Ascension... in the last battles - improved Abazigal, Sendai, and the Throne Irenicus and the Five...these are some of the most used spells. Without them it is almost impossible to win.
In the vanilla game, Remove Magic and melee with SoTM is usually enough to remove any spell protections that bother you. Also you may just ignore enemy spell protections and use your Cloud and other AoE spells.

Yes, summons are good. Have them parade in front of you. Not all summons can take the better earth/iron gollems you encounter later. My advice is to pick up a Fire Gollem scroll and learn the spell before you try and kill them with boomerang hammers or something.

Fire Golem spell? No such spell exists within the vanilla game. Perhaps you mean something else?
Klorox: Amazingly enough, no. Maybe very early in my career as a BG player, but not so much now. Illusions aren't a problem if you invest in Detect Illusion with your thief and Stoneskin still lets elemental damage pass. Mantle isn't a problem either, I'm pretty sure it can be dispelled and if not, there are many other spell combinations to null it with. Simply waiting out the duration works too.

Ehr.. yeah.. what was it called? Those elemental things? Fire elementals? Sorry, I forgot. Well they work like a charm.
