Finish the game, and find out.
Or if you really got to know: Smiling Jack.

SPOILERS:
Smiling Jack and the Cabbie (I staunchly refuse to accept he is Caine because I am a such a P&P fanboi) set the whole thing up; they could have been the only ones to know what was inside the A.S. so as to tell you in the final email: "don't open it". Now Jack really, honestly, I swear doesn't seem the least bit like a guy who speaks in chess metaphors, so that only leaves the Cabbie, imo.

I prefer to think it was the cabby too. Jack somehow doesn't seem Ventrue enough to play chess, let alone use metaphors of that nature (they tend to be more obvious). Not very Brujah. He'd sooner shove those pieces up a Ventrue's larger intestine. That sounds like something he'd say.
It seems like the two coaxed the whole game anyway, so it probably goes without saying it is either.

I'd say he is...
In my humble opinion I'd say it's the
Cab Driver. He reflects a very passive, yet very intelligent, personality. He is the kind of person who only talks when the situation demands it, and knowing beforehand that his words will have big consequences to the lives of those around him.
He acts most of the time as an expectator, but when it's necessary he'll stop at nothing to get involved without actually putting his hands on the case, thus even having to play the role of a taxi driver if it's the best way to act.
He just watches how the pieces are moved by the major players, knowing that it doesn't matter who the winner is, that victory won't last forever because simply there is no way to determine who wins and who loses, it all depends on the point of view of each individual.
The fate of those who have acquired power by force will always be to lose it in the future by the hands of their enemies. The Cab Driver knows this, so there is no real reason to fight your own species for temporary medals, he knows that everyone is destined to lose in the end, when Gehenna arrives...
Of course, there are other probable "friends" who could have sent those e-mails:
- The Cab Driver: For the reasons I've mentioned.
- Smiling Jack: Because he planted the bombs and he wants you to have a fair opportunity to save your life if you're really worth of it. If not, Ultimate Death will be a just punishment for your own selfishness.
- Beckett: Because he is watching every move you make from the beginning. He seems like a very refined person (a rare behavior for a Gangrel), who has a high degree in scholarship and denotes great intelligence. He actually catches you in the Downtown streets and gives you one final word of warning: "Don't open it..."
So... pick your favorite!
