The Chosen: Well of Souls

Happy New Year!
Carol here. I am playing The Chosen: Well of Souls and am having a great time. I have one question (at this point). How do I activate the scrolls properly, such as the Scroll of Magma? I used the scroll to activate the golem successfully but I am having a problem with the other scrolls. I have assigned the "F" keys to the scrolls but cannot seem to use them. Can anyone help me?
