(1) How do I get into the prison area...I've read about teleporting to a certain area in the catacombs, but it wasn't clear to me as to how? (Maybe back to the Elves tree in Stillwater?)

(2) Where is the hinged device.

(3) Where is the Wizard dude I need to put an axe into for the Drow chick.

I think that about covers it... except for the Large MEtal Key, and the Adamantite key.

the entrance to the prisons is in the SW corner of the lower keep. to go through the door you need to get the word of necessity from anorrwyn evensong at the temple of mystra in nightingale court. i haven't found the hinged device yet either. the mage and staff are in the prisons. the 2 keys you mentioned are behind the doors that require them. you enter those rooms later on.

Ok, this takes me to a door that needs the Old elven Key and some prison cells... sadly I don't have the key... am I in the right place? Do I just need this key... if so where do I get it?

you get the hinged device from the dwarf ghost in the gem factory after u free the silverblade in the prisons level of the catacombs, and the u talk to arravain in the nightingale court she tells u to go get the emerald from the same dwarf ghost. When u get there the dwarf gives u the hinged device, which is the key to a secret store, u open it when u insert it in the statue

The wizard dude is dead, but his staff is in a room full of arraccats and their eggs. Hope that helps. It's called the staff of sunlight I think. Nasty against Drow. And you'll never see the elf how asked you to do it again. So don't sweat it.

no, you do see her again but she never asks about it. she is in a prison cell in the castle passage. she also will help you in a later battle if you don't kill her.
