I have completed all the quests in Santa Monica except for carnival of death, but the gate is still locked, preventing me from meeting up with Bertram. Am i missing something?

Are you using any patch?

I have the official 1.2 and upgraded to the 4.4 patch.

So ... is there a solution to this? Because I have the exact same problem, and I'm using 4.9.

Maybe you're trying to open the side gate which also shows a locked door icon. The gate you need to open is exactly behind the burning trashcan. It happened to me when I was a n00b and felt terribly stupid when I found out.

The one behind the trashcan *is* the one I was trying to open. I only get the locked symbol.

Is there a visible padlock model on the gate that can be lockpicked? It should be there with 4.4. If it is not, you either didn't install the patch correctly, like extracting plus without extracting basic first, or you continued an older saved game. In that case use the console command noclip to move through the gate.

Ah, I didn't know you had to extract basic first. I'll try it out.

Thanks!

In case you start over because of this, please use the current version 4.9 which includes an installer that will do everything for you.
