Anyone know of a similar game to this?

I have played and beaten Dungeon Lords CE many times now. Every other game I've tried has SUCKED.... just can't get into them. Can anyone recommend a game that is similar in nature to DL? I tried Neverwinter Nights and it just wants to "talk" you to death... too much like the old Ultima! If anyone knows of another game that plays like DL please let me know... I'm tired of wasting my money on so much other garbage.

There is no game exactly like DL. No. You might try the witcher though perhaps?? But there is a lot of dialogue in that too.
Just trying to suggest a game..
Hmmm....also maybe Oblivion?
My favorite game atm is Titan Quest but it is not a game like DL.
BTW I thought dungeon lords CE was much better than the reviews I read about it when I bought it on impulse..

If you don't want talking, then I wouldn't recommend The Witcher. Titan Quest is fine if you like Diablo-style games. Besides Oblivion, I'd say maybe Fable or Two Worlds would work for you, but only buy Two Worlds if you can find it in a bargain bin.

Looking for things to Kill
Thanks for the suggestions. I think I like the fact that I can sometimes mindlessly "hack" at stuff in DL without having to strategize. So I am looking for a game I can create a character and get into the action quickly without having to go through a lot of training, reading, etc. I suppose you could say I just sometimes like to "hack and slack" monsters. Anyone with any other good ideas??

I second Titan Quest and its Expansion Iron Throne. Also, Loki might be your cup of tea.

no no Claudius, NOT Oblivion because it was overkill with too much game. Never finished it because.... well it sucked so much that imo, it should be used in a lemon factory. An old game, "Heavy Metal F.A.A.K", is similar.

Etrom: The Astral Essence
Hack and slash is my kind of game play!
Etrom: The Astral Essence is a really great game that received unfortunate reviews. Etrom is a sci-fi game, but there's plenty of magic and axe action.
Check it out here:
Etrom - the Astral Essence - Home Page
Also, you might want to check out Heuristic Park's previous game,
Wizards & Warriors. D.W. Bradley recycled a lot of game elements from W&W into Dungeon Lords. W&W shares many themes with DLCE and allows for a party of up to 6 members. The gameplay is turn-based at heart, but it's still action oriented. Even with dated graphics, it's truly an amazing game.
Etrom: The Astral Essence
Wizards & Warriors
Both of these games are awesome. Check 'em out! They'll help pass the time until the Dungeon Lords expansion pack comes out!

Oblivions - argh!!!
I agree with George K 100%. I bought Oblivion and nearly died from old age just trying to get out of the dang first area. Blab..blab..blab.... Utterly horrible game. The name Oblivion, however, is perfect - as in, 'blow it into oblivion!'
Taking everyone's advise, I bought Titan Quest Gold edition, which has both the first one and second one. Also got the complete set of Diablo. I think perhaps this will get me through until the DL expansion... Can't wait till the new DL next year! This game was definitely wrongly maligned by a lot of the reviewers! Best game I've ever played!

If you like the hack and slash of Diablo, I suggest giving Hellgate a go. Same game devs mean the game is pretty similar in many respects, albeit being in a different setting.

Personally, I find that Hellgate can't stand up to DII & TQ. Hellgate gets very tedious after a while.

Titan Quest
If you do decide to get Titan Quest, make sure you have a *really* good gfx card, so you can run the game. I just found out that the card I have is incompatible (ATI Radeon Xpress 200). So if you have that gfx card, UPGRADE!

Arx Fatalis, perhaps?
Or Blade of Darkness? BoD isn't an RPG so much as it is an action game, but features a fairly unique style of melee combat and level design that is gorgeous and varied. If you're looking for ranged combat or magic, though, there really isn't any.

I can run TQ on my GF 6200, which is supposed to be quite old.
Hey, now I am intrested in Blade of Darkness. Do you have any more info about it?

It was made by a now defunct studio called Rebel Act and was released in 2001, IIRC, though it's graphics hold up suprisingly well(they're at least as good as Gothic II's, IMO).
There are four characters the game can be played through which, each with their own attacks, combos, and weapon proficiencies, with little to no overlap.
The gameplay itself is in the form of third-person fantasy melee combat, and takes place across a fairly long game broken into 20-30 levels, each one based on a particular form of architecture(everything from a Hindu-style temple to an ice fortress and an underground forge).

Sounds intresting... Is there some form of XP gathering? Having the feeling that a character grows is an important factor for me.

Yes. The character has a level that increases through the game(XP is gained for killing enemies), and that determines which attacks and combos he/she can execute, what weapons can be equipped, base damage, and stamina.

Yes,, Similar to DL and fun
Absolutly,,,
Try out a game called Sacred Gold. It didnt get alot of media or advertizing, BUT it is a great game. It is similar to DL, chose a race/type, (dwarf, demon, seraphin, dark elf, wood elf, to name a few), kill monsters,, do quests, customize weapons and armor, etc etc,. Overall a GREAT GAME! Get it and enjoy.

Games
I really enjoyed the SpellForce series of games as well as Gothic2. I didn't play Gothic and from reviews don't think I would enjoy it. I'm getting ready to start Gothic3.
Gothic2 was very good!

I'd really suggest playing Gothic 1. It's similar to Gothic 2 and in many ways better, IMO.
Oh, and while you've probably found this out by now, lol Gothic 3. Such a terrible game. =-(
As for the Sacred reccomendation, it's more similar to Diablo 2(which it's pretty much modelled after) than Dungeon Lords. It's a competent but by no means great game, but if you've played Diablo 2 it's not really got much point. And if you haven't played Diablo 2, I'd suggest you play that instead if you're looking for a game.
