Fortify Conjuration?
Alright, so I'm having the issue of not being able to summon a creature because I have a Conjuration skill of only 20, and everything requires a skill of 25 to summon. I've already bought as much training as I can this level, and I DON'T want to level up.
All I need to know is if there's a Fortify Conjuration item or spell or anything in the game somewhere I can go get. I'm almost positive I came across some kind of Constant Effect item that fortified Conjuration in a previous game with a different character, but I can't remember what it was. After I post this, I'm gonna go check my saves, but if anyone knows anything that could help me it would be... very... well... helpful.

I did a Google search and found a Heaven Stone that will fortify Conjuration. It's called the Magnus Stone. Here is a map of where the Magnus stone is, in case anyone else is having trouble with this, but you need a Renown of at least 50 to activate the stone.
Speaking of which, does anyone know of a really quick way to get renown? Preferably fame.. I did the Arena quests, which got it up to 40, but I need another quick 10 points of fame. Any suggestions?
Also, after looking at my previous saves, I discovered that the Robe of Conjurer, which you acquire from advancing through the ranks in the Mages' Guild, will fortify your Conjuration 4 points. I only need one more point! But after becoming a Conjurer in the Mages' Guild, I might have enough Renown to activate the Magnus Stone, so it might not even matter. I would still prefer an item that fortifies my Conjuration at least 5 points over getting more Renown, however.

Ok, I got enough renown (50) to get the power from the Magnus Stone. It fortified my Conjuration by 15, and my skill before the Power was 20. So I had a Fortified Conjuration level of 35, and I went to Conjure a Scamp (which has a Conjuration Skill requirement of 25). Nothing happened. It still said my skill level was too low. Why is it doing this?

Conjuration issues
While the Magnus Stone does fortify your Magicka, it won't fortify it to the next level. You must do that on your own. That goes with any other means to fortify a skill or an attribute. I tried to fortify my destruction power via alternate means to 100+, and it did nothing. You have to reach the milestones yourself.

So what you're saying is, even though I have a (fortified) Conjuration skill level of 45, since I'm still technically an Novice of Conjuration, I can't cast the spell (the one that requires a skill level of 25)?leprekhan wrote:While the Magnus Stone does fortify your Magicka, it won't fortify it to the next level. That's so stupid. What's the point of fortifying?

How about reduced Magicka cost? I'm pretty sure it will be reduced at higher levels.unregisturd wrote:So what you're saying is, even though I have a (fortified) Conjuration skill level of 45, since I'm still technically an Novice of Conjuration, I can't cast the spell (the one that requires a skill level of 25)?

Not worth it. 100 is as high as you can go anyway, right? It's easier just to train. Well, in my opinion, at least. I still think it's stupid that fortifying skills won't aid you in the casting of spells WHATsoever...Loki[D.d.G] wrote:How about reduced Magicka cost? I'll agree with you there, especially because conjuration is the easiest of all the magicka spell schools to level up. But still, you never know when the reduced cost might save your life.unregisturd wrote:Not worth it. 100 is as high as you can go anyway, right? It's easier just to train. Well, if you end up looking for anything else that fortifies spells anytime else, I do recall there being a ring in a jewelery box in the Frostcrag Spire plug-in. After you purchase all the furnishings of course, but its in the living quarters & I'm not sure of how much it gives, I think between 5-10 pts. But it does cover Conjuration, Illusion, Alteration, Mysticism, Destruction. Although, there maybe one left off. I forget...

I play on the 360, so this doesn't help me, but thanks anyway.Mz_Trixter wrote:

Fortifying
You can fortify anything past 100. With powerful spells, you can get your attributes up to well over 200+. This will cause you have much more Magicka and recover it much quicker. Now with skills, with my experiences and knowledge, you can't fortify to another level, and the only skills that are beneficial to be over 100 is Acrobatics and Sneak.

Exactly, this is one of the some downloads you can get off of xbox live... along with some other selected. But you only need to download it once like the other few. After that, it just pre loads before the game starts with anyothers + the expansion if you bought the games separately.unregisturd wrote:I play on the 360, so this doesn't help me, but thanks anyway.

This's difficult for me to do since I tend to focus on a fighter type build. But I do enjoy casting from time to time. So, what I end up doing is when making the character is set the focus on Magic based rather than Combat.leprekhan wrote:You can fortify anything past 100. But like I said, it seems difficult bcuz when enchanting any fortify on my gear, I tend to run outta room once I reach the decision to try 'n fortify my Intel or Magika. But I guess it balances itself out since 'atm' I have 118 magic & I really just use Illusion in conjunction with my combat. 'now you see me, now you don't, now you're dead'

Sorry, I meant that I don't get on LIVE. Well, the thing is, it's my brother's 360, and he plays it in his room on LIVE, but when I play it, I don't like playing it in his room, so I move it out to the living room where there is no hookup to the internet. I also didn't really want to pay for downloads, but then I realized how cheap they are, and I think I've changed my mind. Is the Frostcrag Spire plug-in worth getting? What about the horse armor one? Which ones would be the best to get/are the most fun?
Edit: Poop. I just did a search on the "best plug-ins" to get, and I found the thread talking about plug-ins and whatnot, and I must say.. I'm disappointed. And before, the reason I wasn't really interested in getting any plug-ins or anything, was because I hadn't heard of any AMAZING ones for Oblivion. And.. well, after reading that thread, my fears seem confirmed. Is it really worth it to buy them? I mean, for anyone who's bought them, does it make the game more fun for you? And personally, the horse armor plug-in sounds the most appealing to me, because I don't really care about extra quests. I like extra STUFF. But I just recently read a review of that plug-in and it was frowned upon. So.. I dunno. I'm going back and forth; I can't make up my mind. Is it worth it? I don't want to get into the whole "Bethesda's just trying to take your money" and wondering if it's ethical or not, I just want to know if they're FUN. If they're fun, then they're worth it.

Yeah, I think most of 'em are worth getting. And it doesn't really matter what a thread says about a particular plug-in bcuz, it's your game. But here's an idea of what I use certain ones for:unregisturd wrote:Sorry, I meant that I don't get on LIVE. Frostcrag Spire- Mainly as a storage & enchanting/ making custom spells or creating farmiliars (will follow & defend you)
Theives Den- After cleared out and you've bought the crew for it, you can order 'em to go plunder & you get a percentage of the loot. They'll even fight (but not kill) each other. It gets funny sometimes.
Vile Lair- Initially made for evil char's but like the other plug-ins, it comes with a few items & a way of lvling up a skill & a minion you order to go out n' murder
The other plug-ins are optional, but it's your choice and points if you wanna add any more. I've downloaded all 'cept the themes & pic packs. A 'lil thing about the horse armor, you can use it for any horse. The inital armor is free, but if the horse dies or you have more horses you want armored, you can for a price.
Getting the points for em do cost some dollars, but it's probly a better deal of getting 2400 pts for $24.oo or so. This way any extra points your left with, you can use for other games or the remaining plug-ins. Your choice.

Another useful plug-in is the one which provides a wizards hut outside the city of Bruma. It's very useful in leveling up your alchemy because there is an ingredient cupboard which replenishes itself every so often.
