"This version can only be used in Canada or the US"

So I've re-installed BG:I and TotSC, and tired of the constant request for registration, I humoured my computer by filling it out. Being pathologically honest I filled out the fields properly, and when I can to play it, it turns out the statement that I can only play it in Canada or the USA!
Is there anyway to fix this? It *is* an English copy. I've re-installed it, but I get the feeling I might have to reg-edit it out first. Well I'm going to try and play it now, and see what happens.
Edi: Ok, so it does work, but a)Why did It think my game was american bought, and 2) how Can I stop it from asking me to register?

This is a problem other people have had too, its an issue with the BG series compilation or something - if I recall correctly, other members solved it by downloading an official patch. There should be a link to it either on this site or in one of the threads on this forum.
Hope this helps.

I presume that you've just got hold of the DVD set. This can be a problem and you will probably find that you will have other problems later. I had problems once I changed to XP. You could have other problems if you use mods. However, I would leave it be as long as it is working. The adage if it aint broke, why fix it? is a good one. I ended up installing on a drive without an operating system and that seems to have eliminated the problems other than every month or so I have to do a system restore or reinstallation to get it to work. The problem with it asking you to register will sort itself out after a time. if you keep telling it you will register later, it will eventually stop asking. Either that or you can register by fax. Look on the discs for any patches to make it English Version. I hope that this will help you to avoid some of the problems that I had. If anyone else has found other ways of solving the problem, I would be greatful. My installation on an older operating system has no problems at all.

Well I do have the DVD collection, and I am on Vista.
Do any of you guys/gals/invited transgender guests know if installing the patch will mess up my current game?

My guess is that it would, but others might know for sure.
A bit of extra information. I think that it was only when I went on to play SoA that I had problems.
Since you are testing Vista's compatibility with BG in England, I for one would like to know how you get on. It could well affect my choice of operating system in the future.

Vista runs it fine, no hitches, no nothing.
