Check this out:
BioWare: Fact Sheet – Neverwinter Nights
It calls for a
16mb graphics card! That's ancient. Heck it might even work on my old PC, that's able to play Diablo II and Command and Conquer Red alert 2.
I just thought that was wierd, considering that NWN:2 requires a pixel shader DX9 card with openGL 2.0 and all.
Any thoughts?

simple really this game was made in 1999 and is tailored to have a pentium 3 processor and other requirements that seem ridiculas to us now.

Which goes to show that you don't need the latest and greatest cuting edge technology to have superb gameplay.

Do you think it could run on a PC that runs DII, and other games like that then?

Well I ran NWN1 on my old Pentium 3 system that has an ATI Radeon 9200 128 meg card and 512 megs of PC133 SDRAM and it ran quite fine. I did have serious slowdowns as you can imagine when really large battles took place but in NWN1 that doesn't happen too often.

Diablo 2 requires more of a graphics card than NWN1 (it requires a 32MB card). So yes, if your PC can run Diablo 2, it can certainly run NWN1.

Don't let the posted game requirements fool you.
A faster machine with more graphics will be a major improvement. As you add mods and haks to your game, it will use more and more resources and make for a better game experience all around. I highly recommend Tony's AI improvement and CEP 2.0
I saw features in gameplay I did not know existed when I move the game to my first P-4, and the 6800 graphics card brought out more eye candy that I had not seen before. Water reflections, shadows and better weapons animations, just to name a few.
You can also download and add features for your characters like fingers and smoother skin. Default is kind of blocky and chunky.
Sadly, when I built this 64 bit dual core machine it will not run NWN anymore. Seems that the 7000 and 8000 Nvidia cards also have problems with displaying this game. So I have NWN and Civ 3 on one machine in the guest room and NWN2 and KOTR2 on this one.
Never Winter Nights was truly ground breaking game in a lot of ways, not the least of which was the User created modules, carrying on the tradition of Baldurs gate and so on. As graphics and machines improved so did the game, so the game was actually ahead of the available technology when it first came out.
If you want to see how far the NWN Aurora engine will go, take a look at the Witcher demo, though you will need a fast dual core to play it. You can check out the videos too, thought the game version is not quite as smooth as the videos are.
So yes NWN is a great game, and there are literally hundreds of mods out there for it.

I ran NWN1 and its expansions on my old system with ease. It was a P3 with 384 mb RAM, and a relatively basic graphics card (Nvidia FX something or other).
