does this message get used?
Welcome to the forums. Please use the search function before asking questions, since you'll frequently find the answers you want there, and very quickly, too. That's the case with this question, that seems to regularly come up.
If you can't find an answer you need that way, feel free to go ahead and ask. But we do have a database that is lengthy and detailed.
The site owner doesn't want duplicative threads in the forum, because he says they slow it down (and he points to other forums as an example). So this thread is closed.
And who among the mods leads in number of threads closed? I'm guessing Fable wins hands down....(because he's so much older than the rest of us??

I agree. Fable is so ancient that if he shakes his head one more time I think it will fall off and roll under the computer table, where it will probably be mistaken for a stress ball.
Oh, wait a minute. I'm Fable.
What was this thread about, again? Did you use search before starting it? Did you want me to close it?

:laugh:
Seriously, I think Xandax and Fable are quite close in this matter, thought my bet is that Xan has slight lead.
BTW, do you have template saved somehwere, which you just copy - paste - send, or do you write it each time from scratch?

Nah. I calculate that every time I write that, I get off an additional 300 years in purgatory. Pity I'm not a monotheist, though.

On the topic of horrible thread-closing mods, has anyone heard from Sleepy lately?

Naa - fable closes way more threads with such a remark then me..... I'm to lazy to write messages that long
I win hands down for the lazy moderator award, cause I've even made myself a GreaseMonkey script to automatically fill in stuff for me while I'm moderating. Such as my "moderator signature"
So I do not even need to open notepad and copy/paste it anymore

Funny how he does come to mind when discussing thread-closers.

May I ask why that is?
@fable
I wonder how many of your 27000 posts actually include thread closes or topic removals...

Sleepy was one of the original mods....and considering the active posters at the time, he had his hands full.

Very few. I used to post a lot more than I do, now, especially very long, serious posts in SYM, a few years ago. We had some pretty intense discussions back then!

I guess SYM has evolved and mutated beyond comprehension since then, eh? Not that I'm complaining. The laughs do my soul good.
@Faberge
Aye, me be guessing the same amount too.

Is this akin to saying that every time Fable closes a thread, a room full of adorable kittens is shaved? Also, I can hardly contain the intense sense of irony that will come with this thread's inevitable closing...
Also, in hindsight, this post made precious little sense. Bedtime for bonzo, then.

Why, certainly! One person's purgatory is another person's hell, is another person's heaven. It's all in the set of glasses you use. Care for a spare set of lenses?
