Hi all

Just pushing some ideas around.

1. Izzit possible/feasible to create a Fighter/Mage or Fighter/Thief that specialize in Short Bow?

Proficiencies at Fighter Level 9:
Short Bow +++
2 Weapon Style ++
Katana ++

Fighter/Mage Party:
Keldorn- 2H Sword
Minsc- Halberd
Anomen - Warhammer and Shield
Jaheira - Mace and Scimitar
Imoen - Dagger(Ranged) and Staff
F/M - Short Bow and Katana

Fighter/Thief Party:
Keldorn- 2H Sword
Minsc- Halberd
Anomen - Warhammer and Shield
Jaheira - Mace and Scimitar
Aerie - Sling and Staff
F/T - Short Bow and Katana

In both cases, there are already 4 melee members.
There is no need for me to join in the fray directly.
I feel being at the rear can help me redirect my firepower easier.

As a F/M, for most fights, I will start off fights with debuff/aoe.
Once the fight start, i will move back behind the fighters and snipe away with my Short Bow.
I will chip in with more debuff/aoe if need be.
If mobs close in on me, I will switch to Katanas.
For some specific fight, i will start with Katanas/all my defensive buff and charge in 1st.

As a F/T, I will start off with Back Stab and move to the rear and be bowstring happy.

These might seems like a lazy man's way of playing.
But its just my style.

Any comments?

both classes are possible and strong, are you duel or multiclassing? if duelling, the f/m will not be able to use a bow during its fighter 'down time'.

the f/t party seems weak on arcane magic, with only 1/2 a mage. i would personally swap nalia or imoen in for keldorn or minsc, even edwin if you dont mind having an evil mage.

i'm also pretty sure that druids cant use maces, possibly jaheira can due to her fighter class, but i still tihnk she is limited to druidic weapons.

It is perfectly possible to play that way. That is how I play Nalia if she is in the party.

2 weapon style and ranged don't mix well. Each time you want to switch your weapon you have to interrupt the game and enter the inventory which is annoying.

I'd let Anomen use the Flail of Ages.

If you dual at level 9 you'd better start with +++++ in bows and ++ in a melee weapon.
