Might&Magic or Heart of Winter?

Hi! If you saw a boxed collection of Might&Magic part 4 to part 7 (or 8; I don't remember) for the same price as HoW and you could (or would) only buy either one or the other, which would it be?
Are the above mentioned M&M series any good? Better then HoW?

Whoa--what a question. I suspect the answer would depend upon the enjoyment anyone gets from the two games...plus the fact that HoW is nothing more than an add-on.

I'm not too partial to IWD, with or without HoW. It's well-done, but just straight combat. I like interaction and non-linearity.

M&M 3-5 were probably the best things NWC ever did. The last series, 6-8, have a terrible engine, and show a severe lack of imagination, IMO. They've also increasingly become Monty Haul games. (You know the type: you get everything given to you, right away, so you never face even problems about what to buy.) There are no goals as a result.

So I'd suggest M&M--but only against IWD/HoW.

I have to side with Fable on this one. When opting between the M&M series versus HoW, then I would go with the former one. Especially when you consider the fact that HoW only offers 30 original gaming hours. M&M should keep you busy for several days.

Even though I enjoyed M&M series, but The all new 3D enhancement they put is way too much. Also the quest sometimes kinda frustating, i.e you gotta get certain items in different places to complete it...not to mention one place to another is way far out.

I still prefer HoW better even it costs me only 24 hrs of gaming, than M&M series these days.

It's called Might and Magic Millennium Edition. It has game 4-7 with an extra adventure based on mm4-5 called swords of xeen. Cool game if your funding is low. I only payed 10 bucks for mine.

Though I have never played M&M, I have played all the Forgotten Realms. HoW was SOOO disappointingly short compared to, for instance, Tales of the Sword Coast. It took me only three evenings to complete and cost as much as Icewind Dale....HMMM! :(

M&M : World of Xeen is good - the best that I have ever played, also the swords of Xeen - a bit hard but real kick ass.....not to say when you appraching final boss you fight androids. Sadly the edning kinda lame. Also you can only cast protection spell one at a time, unlike M&M : World of Xeen - they got Day of Protection Spell which enable your protections in only a single spell. :)

The lame thing that I hate about the new M&M series after World of Xeen is the item quest are too many and sometimes hard to obtain, i.e on M&M : Mandate of Heaven - which you have to collect cubes to gain access to story critical area, and the cubes are real hard to find. Not too mention your enemy are soo overwhelming (I remember being overwhelmed by lots of Titans and the best spell I got only Star Burst) :( :(
