Boo Hoo Hoo BG Dungeon Tavern Has Closed

I can't believe the best board on cRPG has closed. Are their any other to compare? This is a sad day indeed.

Official Quote:

Sorry, this bulletin board is temporarily unavailable due to the constant abuse and problems that the childish behavior has caused. This forum was never intended to be anything more than a place to discuss popular RPG games.

Unfortunately with 15,000+ members it has become a victim of it's own success and a constant source of grief and complaints about issues that don't relate to games at all and I no longer have the time or the means to deal with these issues.

I would like to give a big Thank You to the moderators and loyal members that made the Taverns as popular as it was over the last year. I apologize to them for having to shut it down. The Taverns may return in the future or be replaced by something new if I can once again free up the time to dedicate to it.

You will note that the message boards are temporarily down, not permanantly shut. I suspect BG just go tired of what he perceived as attacks, and wanted to make a point. How long it will remain down is up to him, but I wouldn't expect that it will be for long.

what kind of attacked he got and from? i certainly "love" him

Hard to say, Mizuno. Perhaps he was getting a lot of e-mail, or maybe it was still grief over the private BG2 board. We didn't see it, but I'm sure something was going on.

I've seen people close boards because of exasperation before. In all cases but one, the boards have reopened almost immediately.

There's a problem with that IMHO.

mizuno,

Is board dead or what? You could ask a question at BG and get 5-10 responses within the hour. Another thing I miss already.

I felt this statement was kind of vauge:
constant source of grief and complaints about issues that don't relate to games at all and I no longer have the time or the means to deal with these issues.

Lawyer speak to me?

Thing is Mizuno, BG has and Off Topic board just for that purpose. Off Topic. So I really don't understand what BG's talking about. Again, vauge.

yea, i thought that too, so i am still thinking the real reasons.

money might be a problem since someone said that in other board

Whatever the problem was, it must have been preety big to justify shutting down the whole board!
Maybe the guy running the site just got sick of Jerks flaming and spamming? With over 15000 member its inevitable that you'll get at least a couple of people like this. Is it fair to make the vast majority of innocent law abiding posters suffer? probably not.
I dont blame the people running BG Dungeon though, I mean I could only imagine how much time and effort it took to run and monitor that message board and at least it was fun while it lasted.
Thanks for the memories BG Dungeon*sob*,

perhaps i can clear things up. or at least try.
bgdungeon the person had another site. www.cheatit.com or something, which was bigger than the bg sites. the cheat site took too much time and he couldnt pay so much attention too our site. it is also rumerd that it was shut down because of financial problems. if thats the case, then i dont know how these guys over here can have the site up, as it is free as bgdungeon were. the resent posts with flames and trolls could be too much for him. some guys out there ruind the board completely.
"if only tougher rules was made"
diablo left,(didnt he? havent seen him for a while) wizard IV was flaming constantly, and talan had some serious trouble. then there was all these minor flames. they where, im sure, all sarcastic, but not all took the points.
but yes, i also find a bit radical to shut down the entire board because of it. banning the IP of those who where the worst. bgdungeon could also get his email out of there, so that you had to go through the mods to reach him.
unfortunatly, it isnt easy to hold someone off a board, who wants to be there, and ruin it for everybody else.
i *hope* bgdungeon only shut it down temperely, to loose some dead weight. perhaps the worst flames will die out after a couple of days. meanwhile, i think there has been a storm of mails to bgdungeon begging to get the site up again. depending of how many mails, the boards could be up again, as im not sure he can ignore 1000+ wishes(dont know the number), unless it was something deeper behind it all, which we dont know. in that case, i dont think the board will ever be up again.
we all mourn about its loss, it was a sad day.
i was at the board posting, when it shut down. i thought he did the updates, as nothing where working. i hit the *refresh button* and the message come up.. Image

I guess what made BGDungeon addictive was the quest for that Legendary Champion status Image
That and those nice font colors... I miss my precious cyan...
