So I've been playing through Fallout 1 with much happyness but today I go to start it up and it gives me a "you need more than 20mg of memory to run this" error. Has anyone else had this problem and solved it?

You could try to patch the game or reinstall it. Those were the methods that worked on Fallout 2, so my guess is those may also work in F1...

I had that problem a few times and I saw on a forum a way to fix this problem.

"In your Fallout directory find the fallout.cfg file and open it with
Notepad.
Note: Your file may look slightly different from the one listed below.

[system] <-----look under this paragraph
art_cache_size=130
cdlock=C:\Programs\mIRC\download\cdlock.dat
color_cycling=1
critter_dat=C:\Games\BlackIsle\Fallout2eng\critter.dat
critter_patches=C:\Games\BlackIsle\Fallout2eng\data
cycle_speed_factor=1
executable=game
free_space=20480 <---------- find this line and change the value to 0(zero)
hashing=1
interrupt_walk=1
language=english
master_dat=C:\Games\BlackIsle\Fallout2eng\master.dat
master_patches=C:\Games\BlackIsle\Fallout2eng\data
scroll_lock=0
splash=3
times_run=5

If you can't find the line, just add it under the [system] header."
