"Without a scratch" boast

It seems this boast can only be done by Archer/Magic characters, and not pure melee. My character is a pure warrior and I don't use magic at all except for multi strike and I'm finding it next to impossible to do the without a scratch boast, even on my new character on the orchad farm quest. I mean, I can block pretty much all the melee attacks but if I even go literally 2 steps away from the guards they pull out their crossbows and start shooting at me which is unblockable as you know unless you roll around like a maniac (which I do but still get hit sometimes!). This wouldn't be a problem if it was only the one guard but theres three of them and I can never seem to get them all to melee me at the same time, there's always atleast one guard firing arrows around.
Has anyone done Without a scratch boasts as a pure melee character and has some tips? Remember, I don't like to use magic so no physical shield. ;p

I think you just answered your own question with the physical shield comment. It's probably possible without it, if you're good and you reload a lot, but what's the point? Physical shield is the way to go
I dare say this boast would work differently if that spell wasn't available to a melee character.

I think slow time will come in great here.

Err, if someone isn't willing to use physical shield, I don't think slow time would do any good, because it costs way more mana to cast.

Guess I'll have to get a few spells, but I don't want to be classed as a spellwarrior so if I get just 3 or 4 spells will that change my class to spellwarrior from warrior? If my strength stats are pretty high, say all 5.

Your class will change depending on how you deal with your enemies. So, even if you get one heal spell, and still kill tonnes of enemies without using the heal, you can still be a warrior class.

Class Titles: Warrior
Actually, the classification of Warrior is a function of what area (Strength, Skill, Will) in which you accrue the most experience (in this case, Strength) and where you spend the most experience points in leveling up (in this case, Physique).
Ganthan's Class Title Challenge post explains the concept quite well (though I think Notti posted the original research).
I recently completed a game as a Sorcerer, which is challenging because Toughness maxes out with relatively few experience points.
