A Kiss Before Dying Problem SPOILER

I was playing Oblivion and doing all my quests for the black hand pretty good until i had to kill Umogoil(not sure how it's spelled) . When i killed him everything froze .. I couldn't move nor open the journal .. nothing .. just look around a zoom out and go into sneak mode. It happened when Lucien lach... or something(the one who appears in your dream when your first innocent kill happens) appeared right next to me when Umogoil fell to the ground .

The quest i'm talking about is the "A Kiss Before Dying" . And the wood elfs name is Ungolim and not Umogolin. Instead of Lucien getting angry with me, the game freezes as told before ..

Sounds like a glitch. You'll probably have to restart the game and load a saved game. If you didn't save before the fight, you should at least have an autosave from when you traveled to Bravil. I've never heard of this particular symptom, so this isn't one of the common bugs, but stuff like this occasionally happens.

Also, are you playing on PC or 360? On PC if you added any mods or plug-ins recently you might want to disable them to see if happens again after you restart the game. And as a last resort on PC you can use a console command to skip to the next stage of the quest.

It's on PC. The same bug has actually been seen before, because I found a thread about it here, when i searched, but there was no answer to it.

What's the console command for skipping to the next stage of the quest?

Definitely plenty of glitches out there I never heard of before. Learn something new every day...

Anyway, try this immediately after you kill Ungolim but before Lachance speaks to you:

player.setstage Dark16Kiss 100

If that doesn't work, try this:

player.setstage Dark17Following 10

That last command worked 50% .. Everything was moving again ... except me .. I still couldn't do anything, but Lucien came to life and started killing the guards around me

Okay. Problem fixed . I just had to do all the quest before it all over again

The same happened to me. I was really mad because I played for like 6 hours and I smashed my hand. I was mad. I just restarted and it worked fine.

100% REAL FIX -easy way out

As said above, the person said to type this code into your console right after killing him and before lucien comes up to you "player.setstage Dark17Following 10"

no no no no.

type it in your console before you kill the guy. Then it will just skip all that stuff and you can proceed on with the quest normally. Enjoy guys/girls.

Summary: To fix this glitch type "player.setstage Dark17Following 10" in your console before killing the guy in front of the statue.

I had the same problem as you but on the Xbox 360. I think it's the same quest the one where the guy with a bow goes up to the lucky lady statue. On the Xbox you can only go into and outta sneak mode and spin around in circles, but cant go any where. As soon as i killed the guy lucien pops up and words in the top left hand corner appear bout something with the air growing cold and stuff. But people still walk around talk to me and sound and graphics still work fine but guards just kill lucien over and over again and I still can't complete the Dark brotherhood storyline.

Since my previous post with console codes, a friend of mine had the same problem on the 360. She loaded a saved game it still happened every time if Ungolim was already at the statue. She loaded again, fast traveled away before Ungolim could attack, came back after he was gone and waited until he returned to the statue. Then after she killed him and Lucien appeared, the game didn't freeze. If you don't have a recent manual saved game, you might at least have an autosave from when you arrived at Bravil.

I haven't checked the script but it's possible that his arrival is a trigger of some kind, so if he's already at the statue when you confront and kill him the quest can't continue. Or maybe it was just a coincidence. Something to try, at least.

My little accident

Dear anyone who can help,

My little brother deleted all my saves accept my bug save when I was in the restroom. So if anyone can help please do so because im as pissed as hell. By the way im on the Xbox 360. I do have online if you want to contact me there then my gamertag is, ZCrimsonXEagleZ. So please do help I need it badly, before skyrim comes out because i'd be addicted to skyrim and not oblivion anymore. I also have a facebook but its my cuz's and its Chris Dalton so if you help me then I will give you 800 micro points, thats how desperate I am. If you have an xbox 360 that is.
